🫶🏻Part 1 of 2: Today was special day for me. I got to share a little bit with the world via @newschannel5 about how my little 15 year old food blog has shifted from being a surface level queso and restaurant fangirl site into sharing my grief journey and healing alongside my followers. Thank you so much to channel 5 and Alexandra Koehn for reaching out to chat with me today about my life’s passion project in memory of the loved ones I’ve lost - “queso with Delia Jo”. Thank you to my dear sister in life and in loss @redjulesa for being my support system today and thanks to the amazing team at newly opened queso, taco, and neighborhood gathering space @tiofunnash for feeding us well and letting us record in your vibrant new space that reminds us all, that even amid the grief, it’s important to find joy and to eat, even in hard seasons. 💜 part 2 coming up next. by @diningwithdeliajo

Happy NYE! Sooooo I beat my previous record of 208 new-to-me restaurants in 2023. I hit 210 last week and decided to stop there — bc my Mama’s bday was 2/10 and that just felt right. Here’s a 40 second recap of just the new places I tried, but yes I did dine at over 400 restaurants in total. Instagram captions limit me from including the full new-to-me list. But comment below if you’d like me to send it your way, and stay tuned for the list on my blog tomorrow! Thanks for dining along with me, even when I spend so many meals solo. You guys are truly the best community a gal could ask for. Hope you’re hungry in 2024. I know I will be. 👸🏼🧀🫶🏻 Be safe out there yall! #nye2024 #nashvillenye #eatingshow #feedme #foodblogger by @diningwithdeliajo

🎥Part 1 of 2: 💜I was so honored to be asked to jump on today’s episode of @localon2live with @thelauraschweizer and @joebreezyradio and dish about 4 of my favorite places around town to eat plus enjoy great zero proof drinks! (Lookin at you @june.nashville @hseanbrock @orpheum @goodasfolk @jordingspaulds @hathornenashville @thefoxnashville )We also chatted about the book, my personal pizza crawl, and being the “grandmother of food bloggers” after doing this for 15 years. This was my first time doing “live” tv and I’m thankful the team @wkrntv was so kind and made me feel at ease. Part 2 coming later 💜 by @diningwithdeliajo

Back in May, I got the second experience of a lifetime: singing on the Grand Ole Opry stage with The Choir Room and Chris Tomlin during the K-LOVE Fan Awards. We drove up for the day, and I got ready in the truck in the parking lot. Not glamorous, but very us. Ryan was behind the wheel, then in the crowd.I also brought my grandmother Marguerite with me through her old makeup compact, still marked with the makeup she once used. She was born in Nashville in 1920 and became a drama teacher before life brought her to North Alabama. Carrying that little piece of her into such a theatrical Nashville moment felt sacred. That night, I walked onto the stage with intense facial and neck pain, wearing heels taller than my current era usually permits, and poured out my heart like a Backstreet Boy waiting decades for the key change. Somehow, my face even felt better afterward. A kind fellow choir member also noticed me worrying about descending risers and reached for my hand. 🙏 Sometimes the most meaningful moments are not polished. Sometimes your dressing room is a truck. Sometimes you are hurting. Sometimes you are carrying your grandmother, missing your parents, and singing anyway. And sometimes, before all that, you accidentally order queso. Which was technically the point of this post. 😂🫕 At the new Foundry Fieldhouse, I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Dip with shaved prime rib, onions, peppers, cheese sauce, and garlic-herb crostini. (This is inside @gaylordoprylandresort with massive screens for game day btw) That is “fancy queso” in my book, and yes, it counts as a meal. The Queso Trail is an inclusive institution. All quality dips may enter. This whole corner of Nashville holds so many versions of me: the child visiting the @opry with family, the Alabama teenager who gwas so excited for a new mall ave a speech about Opry Mills, the 40+ granddaughter carrying a drama teacher’s compact, the woman getting ready in a truck, the queso pilgrim, and the singer pouring everything she had onto the Opry stage + 😘 to her husband before she exited the stage. It was not glamorous. It was better. It was ours. How blessed I am to have survived to see it💜 by @diningwithdeliajo

Leave it to me to turn a trend into my 3rd television show pitch. ;) At almost 44, I can finally see the full picture. Yall— my life has never unfolded in neat little chapters. It has come back to me in meals, timestamps, songs, cities, losses, plot twists and the exact bite that made me feel alive again at 9:11 am on a December day with a @bojangles pimento cheese biscuit For 17 years, I turned those food memories into a career. Somewhere along the way, I also collected two ex-husbands in Texas, two dead parents, a brain injury, sobriety, a stolen jewelry safe, a 40+ autism/adhd diagnosis, and enough original songs about queso and food to require a soundtrack department. Not to mention I have a husband who makes beautiful amazing food from nothing and treats me like this queso queen 👸 has always felt she deserved. (He deserves his own series TbH) So no, this is not a Netflix documentary. It is a whole-ass series This location: my 2 week patio office at @home2suites Miami airport South blue lagoon location 🎦 (not sponsored LOL) The footage already exists. The story is still unfolding. 🎬 call me @netflix 🧀 by @diningwithdeliajo

Someone asked me about my favorite pizza so…memory flagged. Flashing back to our wedding on a budget that no one believed in yet here we stand near 2 years booze-free and happier than any clam I ever ate . 😂 Highlights included this dress from target I already owned, a $44 amethyst ring, temu wig, my Daddy marrying us at a restaurant on Music Row down the road from where we met, a photo sesh and making it official thanks to my friends at thr beautiful @themaccavilla with some of my favorite pizza anywhere — Zio JohnB’s NY pizza (joeys pizza fans this is your sign). 💒 Do you. Let the world scratch their heads and watch. Here’s to second, third, fourth and 400th chances. I finally got it right, now I get to live every day with my best friend, alcohol free, hand in hand @ryan___richmond 💕 🍕 here’s to alchemizing the hardest date in my life (the day my mama passed) and making it a happy one instead. by @diningwithdeliajo

if i have one wish for this former “food blog” i started 17 years ago as a brave undiagnosed audhd girl who moved to dallason a whim for a fresh start —I hope I inspired you to try the restaurant you’ve been meaning to visit.Order the thing you can’t pronounce.Sit a little longer.Overtip when you have the ability and the service made your dayTalk to the people around your table.Wrote a kind review Because food is never just food. It’s how strangers become neighbors. And memories find a place to live, so that once you’ve said goodbye to someone dear, they live on every time you take a bite. — Peace love and queso. Delia Jo 📸 @birriababenash birria pizza when I brought it to my husband and we dined on the tailgate before he worked dinner service 💕🪩💜 by @diningwithdeliajo

🌤️ Flavor Forecast 🇺🇸 USA Edition: Hot Dogs & Core Memories This AM I searched my 📸 roll for a dish — something I do fairly often: “Hot dog.” More than 300 photos appeared. I was once again looking at chapters of my Life Well Fed. This carousel holds a few of my favorites.📸 A 🌭 handed to me by the amazing @chefaz on my 41 bday, spent at the @ilaniresort Wine & Food Fest in Washington during a season when I found myself backstage at food festivals feeling awkward in my new sober at events state. Chef’s encouragement helped remind me there was still a place for me as an alcohol-free food writer who didn’t know at the time she was autistic and had adhd. Sometimes I fit in beautifully. Sometimes I hid awkwardly near the food, unsure what to do without my standard drink in hand for emotional support. But I kept showing up. And that’s what I love about food stories. They don’t all happen under perfect lighting at premier festivals. Sometimes they happen when a chef you admire hands you a hot dog.And Sometimes they happen over a $3 @circlekstores meal that saves the day mid Florida road trip with the cats in tow.Sometimes they happen with a chili cheese pup from Krystal, because comfort on a holiday spent alone (I think this was a thanksgiving) doesn’t need a press credential.🥒 Chicago dog from @Portillos on an Orlando visit — that always reminds me of my mama, she never passed up a Chicago dog🦀 super fun 🥢 Crab Rangoon x hot dog mashup at @vernabackbar inside the building I once knew as my late night Nashville dining escape — Café Coco. Same address. Very Different chapter of life.🌭 A cream cheese-loaded Big Daddy from iconic @Daddysdogsnash — because every city deserves a signature hot dog and Nashvilles 🌭 king always understands the assignment.🇺🇸 Here’s to simple food, shared tables, and the memories we don’t realize we’re making until years later. These photos remind me of the America I still believe in. The one where I stood on top of the slide at Mama Jo’s house, singing God Bless the U.S.A. at the top of my lungs because I meant every word. The one where neighbors 👋.Where there was always another 🪑 at the table at my parents 4 by @diningwithdeliajo
