If there was ever a time I needed reminding why I do what I do, seeing Connie today was that reminder.

The popularity of Dinky Ponies has been massively influenced by this wonderful human being. I owe so much to her.

The backstory, for anyone who doesn’t know, is that we started visiting Connie back at the very beginning, when Dinky Ponies had only been going for a short while.

Reel after reel of Connie and Poppy went viral. It appeared everyone loved her as much as I did. Her infectious smile, enthusiasm for life and love for Poppy was clear for everyone to see. She has become a massive part of my journey, and I, along with many other Dinky followers, think the world of her.

She’s over a 100 years old, and a total inspiration. She’s given me so much. More than she will ever realise.

I often get asked which ponies I choose to take on visits and how I decide. And the secret is, every visit and every decision I make starts long before we set off.

I spend so much time thinking about which pony is right for each place and each person. It’s definitely not as simple as picking whoever’s closest that morning!

I weigh up the herd, the journey, the setting and the individuals we’re visiting. All of that matters.

And it’s not only about who comes with me. I also have to think about who’s staying behind.

Field dynamics are a huge part of every decision too, making sure everyone left at home is settled, balanced and content.

I also plan out each week so the workload is shared fairly. No one is overworked, everyone gets proper rest, and each of the Dinks gets their fair share of visits.

Today’s combination was a new one, and I wasn’t entirely sure how it would go.

But I think these photos speak for themselves ♥️ by @dinkyponies

People ask me all the time why my ponies are so kind. And in all honesty, I don’t know why. But I do know this.

I treat them with nothing but love, kindness and respect. I try to understand them, to put myself in their shoes and, as much as I possibly can, be part of their herd rather than simply expecting them to be part of my world.

I know I don’t get it right all the time. Far from it. I’m always learning from them.

But I hope, above everything else, they know and trust that I love them, that I will always listen to them, and that everything I do is because I want only the very best for them.

And maybe, in some small way, the kindness they give to others is simply the kindness they know themselves.

It’s hard to comprehend how contact, a hug, or simply being touched can be so painful for some people. It honestly breaks my heart.

But hopefully, a little kindness and a moment of connection made Victoria feel better, even if it was only for a couple of minutes.

We never truly know what someone else is going through.

These are the eyes of one tired mama.

These are the eyes of someone who’s spent the day in London in meetings, whose brain is completely full and who is absolutely exhausted.

But they’re also the eyes of someone who is incredibly excited about the opportunities that are starting to unfold.

They’re the eyes of someone who is incredibly grateful for the wonderful friends supporting her behind the scenes. For those holding the fort at the yard, caring for the ponies while I’m away, and those who listen to my endless ideas, encourage me and help me turn them into reality.

None of it happens on my own, and I’m very lucky to have some wonderful people around me.

My head is spinning, my eyes are tired, but my heart is very full ♥️ by @dinkyponies

The last two days I’ve been on visits where I haven’t been able to share very much, and that actually happens quite regularly.

There are many facilities where I can share what we get up to, but also plenty where I can’t. Quite often these are the visits where some of the other Dinks come along too, which is why you don’t always see every pony working on here.

Yesterday it was Abbey, who was so relaxed she fell asleep with her head on someone’s lap. Today it was Gracie. And watching these two has made me incredibly proud.

It wasn’t that long ago that Gracie would cause chaos, pushing people and ponies out of her way, with very little concept of personal space and very few manners! Abbey was the opposite. She lacked confidence, would panic and often found visits quite stressful.

I’ve never rushed them. They’ve been given love, time and the opportunity to learn at their own pace.

To now watch them both settle into these environments, relax and genuinely enjoy spending time with the people they meet feels like such an achievement.
