DAY 06: Every grand tour deserves a grand finale.

(The weather may not have received the memo.)

Grey skies and persistent rain greeted us as we departed Casa Maria Luigia, but when your destination is Maranello, spirits remain high regardless of the forecast.

For many in the group, this was a pilgrimage.

A visit to the Ferrari factory is one of those experiences that never loses its magic, no matter how many times you’ve seen the gates. Behind those walls, some of the world’s most coveted cars take shape, and for a group of Ferrari enthusiasts it was the perfect way to begin our final day. Shout out to @sam_ferrari_london and the team at @hrowenferrari for making it happen.

Lunch followed at Ristorante Montana, a Modena institution whose walls tell the story of Ferrari itself. For decades it has been the unofficial dining room of drivers, engineers and Ferrari executives, with generations of Scuderia legends leaving their mark on the restaurant. Few places feel more deeply connected to the marque.

From there we left Motor Valley behind and headed south into the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Our final destination was Solaia, one of Italy’s most celebrated vineyards and among the most exclusive experiences within the Antinori portfolio. Away from the larger and better-known visitor properties, the opportunity to visit the estate and cellars is rarely granted and provided a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary week.

As the sun finally broke through the clouds, glasses were raised, stories retold and friendships strengthened.

Over seven days we had crossed three countries, driven some of Europe’s greatest roads, visited legendary automotive landmarks, enjoyed world-class hospitality and shared experiences that simply cannot be replicated.

The cars brought us together.

The people are what made it unforgettable.

Until next time…

DAY 05: As quickly as the weather had smiled upon us in the Dolomites, it turned once again.

A dusting of snow was forecast for the higher elevations around Forestis, so we took the hint and made an early departure, descending from the mountains before breakfast had fully settled.

The snow never quite arrived. Instead, a steady drizzle accompanied us through the valleys before easing as we reached Lake Garda. As if on cue, the clouds began to lift, revealing the spectacular scenery that makes this corner of Italy so special.

By afternoon we were making rapid progress south towards Modena and Maranello – the spiritual home of the Prancing Horse and a place that requires little introduction to any enthusiast.

But Ferrari would have to wait until tomorrow because tonight belonged to another Italian icon.

If Day 4 represented the pinnacle of the driving experience, Day 5 was undoubtedly the culinary equivalent.

Our destination was Casa Maria Luigia, the extraordinary country house hotel created by @massimobottura – chef, Ferrari ambassador, collector, storyteller and one of the most influential figures in modern gastronomy.

Following a private tour of the Bottura’s personal car collection including several remarkable Ferraris and Lamborghinis, we sat down for the main event - dinner.

This was a curated journey through some of the most celebrated dishes from Osteria Francescana, Bottura’s legendary three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Modena. The deconstructed lasagna. The famous Oops! I Dropped the Lemon Tart. Plates that blur the line between food, art and theatre.

And then came an unexpected bonus.

Massimo himself happened to be overseeing service that evening and generously spent time with our group, sharing stories of food, Ferrari, collecting and his thoughts on the future direction of the marque we all know and love.

A week later, Casa Maria Luigia would welcome guests from around the world for Cavallino Classic, one of the most prestigious events in the Ferrari calendar.

For one memorable evening, however, it felt as though we had the place almost entirely to ourselves. #tourtastefully #slowfoodfastcars #ferrari #michelin #hautecuisines taken in Casa Maria Luigia by @dino_diary

DAY 04: The Dolomites …This is what we came for. After months of planning, endless weather checks and more than a little nervousness, we woke to blue skies over the Dolomites. The weather gods had finally decided to smile on us.

If you’ve ever driven these roads, you’ll know just how rare this is. Our last visit ended beneath feet of fresh snow before it had really begun. This year we had everything crossed. Not only were the passes open, but we were gifted what proved to be one of the few truly clear days of the week.

Timing is everything in the mountains. Come too early and winter refuses to let go. Come too late and the roads fill with cyclists, camper vans and traffic. But for one perfect day we found the sweet spot.

Snow-capped peaks. Bright sunshine. No congestion. Just the rhythm of the road and the occasional crack of a downshift echoing off the rock faces. You can see immediately why these are regarded as some of the world’s great driving routes.

The photographs are spectacular, but they don’t quite capture what it felt like to be there: driving beneath towering cliffs dusted with snow, dropping into green valleys before climbing once more into the clouds.

If you could distill the spirit of Club Monza this would be it. #sellaronda #bucketlistdrives #valhalla #porsche #ferrari taken in Dolomites by @dino_diary

DAY 03: Slovenia ➝ Italy ➝ The Dolomites 🇸🇮 🇮🇹

Today we left Ljubljana behind and pointed the cars towards the Alps. As anyone who has driven in the mountains knows, plans rarely survive first contact with the weather.

An overnight review of road conditions, traffic and forecasts suggested snow, roadworks and less-than-ideal conditions on some of the higher passes.

With several cars running on Cup 2s, discretion seemed the better part of valour, so a revised route was quickly stitched together in the small hours and disseminated to the group in real time through the custom CM tour app.

It proved to be the right call. Light rain leaving Ljubljana soon turned to sleet and then snow as we climbed towards the Italian border.

Yet just a few minutes later, emerging from a tunnel on the other side of the mountains, we were greeted by bright sunshine and blue skies. Four seasons in a day, quite literally!

The weather held as we swept through northern Italy towards Bressanone, enjoying our first glimpse of the roads and scenery that make the Dolomites one of the world’s great driving destinations.

There was a brief interruption from the local constabulary, who seemed more interested in number plates than driving standards, but even that couldn’t dampen spirits.

The day ended at Forestis Dolomites, one of the standout hotels of the tour. Think Aman in the Alps: spectacular views, understated luxury and service on another level.

Tomorrow, the main event. Fingers crossed the mountains are ready for us…#ferrari #porsche #astonmartin #dolomites taken in Bressanone by @dino_diary

DAY 02: Croatia ➝ Slovenia 🇭🇷 🇸🇮

After the sweeping bends and breathtaking views of the Adriatic coast, today we turned inland, crossing the mountains into Slovenia and making our first border crossing of the tour.

The scenery changed almost as quickly as the weather. Rugged coastal roads gave way to lush forests and rolling green hills, while sunshine was replaced by rain and mist. The all-weather gear finally came into its own — and something told us it wouldn’t be the last time this week. Meanwhile our intrepid photographer Ralph was trying his best to become the first person to be allowed into and then denied entry to an EU state on the same day! Surely it wasn’t because he was British?

With fewer miles to cover than yesterday, we rolled into Ljubljana in the early afternoon to an unexpected welcome. A group of local car enthusiasts had gathered to greet us, spending hours photographing the cars despite the rain. Slovenian spotters are clearly built different. One young fan was literally shaking with excitement when invited to sit in the Aston Martin Valhalla.

Our stay in Ljubljana may have been brief, but it delivered one of the culinary highlights of the tour. Dinner was at Strelec, perched high within the Archer’s Tower of Ljubljana Castle. Surrounded by medieval tapestries and panoramic views across the city, we were treated to a bespoke seven-course tasting menu created especially for Club Monza by the Michelin-rated chef.

Ordering the wine pairing with every course may, in hindsight, have been slightly over-enthusiastic. Judging by the mood around the table, however, no one was complaining. #astonmartin #ferrari #porsche #lamborghini #ljubljana

DAY 01 - We start on a high with a flowing run up the coast along the Magistrale — a “jewel” of the Adriatic and arguably one of the finest driving roads in Europe. A road built for grand touring with every sweeping bend providing a picture postcard view of the rugged coastline - deep blue water framed by jagged mountain peaks.

Our journey north is punctuated by a short detour to sample a unique stretch of tarmac set amidst a spectacular ‘lunar’ landscape. The unique setting has been used for photoshoots by local Croatian hypercar maker, Rimac, most recently for the Nevera launch. If it’s good enough for @materimac, it’s good enough for us! #LFG #IYKYK #visitcroatia☀️ #ferrari #porsche
