Made a fun lil movie poster for "A Dog's Tail" -- a new 3D animated micro-short created by myself and @pickledsofa for @hot30shorts !! We had some amazing help from the talents of @brakedrown, our sound designer and music composer, and @alyoanimation on additional 2dfx animation!

This is the first 3d film we've made since college, we're sooooo back!! Thanks to everyone who caught its debut at Hot 30's live show, we're excited to post it online soon 🐶🎉 In the meantime, you can actually catch our film in Hot 30's screening video on their Youtube channel <3

“It’s always been a dream of mine to have my name in the credits of a feature animated film. There aren’t a lot of Lao names in the credits of mainstream western media in general. I want to be part of the change.”

Dara Insixiengmay @dinxie_ is a professional 2D/3D artist and rigger based in LA, and for the VR narrative-based gamedev studio, Tender Claws, working on projects such as Stranger Things VR.

“I want to see and to be able to show that Lao people have a place in Hollywood. So over the next decade, I strive to be there.”

“The collaborative process of creating film through fun narratives and stylistic visuals with other talented individuals fills me with much joy as well as the desire to entertain. To be an artist was natural to me, but to find a practical job out of it was entirely different.”

“I made a risky decision to pursue higher education for a career that doesn’t necessarily require a degree. However, my pursuit made sense to me…”

Dara’s story is part of The Lao Project, a collection of narrative portraits of Lao Americans. Read the rest of their story at the link in bio.

Pirate Lesson concept work and painted clouds!! the clouds were 2D assets- either used in compositing or as 3d planes in backgrounds to bring more dimension and movement to an otherwise 2d matte painting.

My senior animated film, Pirate Lesson, is FINALLY OUT!!! It's been a whole year and a half since we've finished this wonderful film, and in that time, Pirate Lesson has been making rounds in festivals all over the globe! As of today, Pirate Lesson has earned 6 awards, numerous honorable mentions, and 45+ official selections in multiple countries. I cannot express enough how proud I am of this film and every person on the team, who worked incredibly hard to make it the best possible film. I'm also very honored to have my rigs animated by such talented animators and to help create a pipeline around the look development of our style for the film! I am so very excited to share this goofy film with you all! GO WATCH IT!
