Almost a Year Since Diosa’s Black Widows 🥹

When I created this project last year, it represented women empowerment, taking up space, being bold, unapologetic and never making yourself smaller to make other people comfortable.

A year later, I see even more meaning in it.

Thinking about a spider web. Something so thin, delicate and easy to overlook yet the material it’s made from has an incredible strength to weight ratio. Spider silk can rival steel by weight, stretch considerably before breaking, a web can sustain damage to individual strands without the entire structure collapsing. Something that looks fragile was built to endure & it honestly reminds me of myself as a woman navigating life’s trials and tribulations. I think there’s something so beautifully feminine about that.

We’re often taught to associate strength with hardness, being tough, loud, unaffected but strength can be soft. It can bend. It can stretch. It can be damaged and still hold itself together. Femininity has never been synonymous with fragility.

You can be soft and still be powerful. Delicate and still resilient. You can take up space without sacrificing the parts of yourself that the world mistakes for weakness and just like a spider builds her own web, strand by strand, there’s power in creating something of your own! Your life, your art, your career, your identity and standing firmly in the center of it. I aim to continue to empower the women around me!

Women in Suits x Rafael Arturo

I envisioned this set as an extension of Rafael’s work. His exhibit, along with the narratives behind his conceptual editorial, deeply captivated me. I was particularly drawn to his use of rich, evocative color palettes, which conveyed a profound emotional resonance. My intention was to capture and reflect the same feeling his work evokes—creating a complement rather than a contrast, allowing this set to exist as part of a greater visual dialogue.

Exhibitions like this are especially powerful, as they transform digital photography into tangible, immersive art. It was a pleasure to speak with Rafael about his creative process and witness the full scope of his versatility. Beyond being a photographer and editor, he is also a poet and a stylist—many of the garments featured in the photographs came directly from his personal wardrobe.

His work is a testament to the fact that photography is far more than simply pressing a shutter. It is about vision, curation of location, model casting, styling, shooting, countless hours of editing, and the careful selection of presentation—from print to frame. Every element of this project reflects a thoughtful, intentional effort to bring passionate and meaningful art into the community.

Photography is a unique medium in that a single captured moment can evoke entirely different emotions and interpretations in each viewer. It’s this fluidity and depth that make it such a powerful form of artistic expression.

Tokyo-inspired high-fashion streetwear custom designed, tailored, and styled by him. I’m truly grateful to have been part of such an incredible evening surrounded by talented, creative, and hardworking individuals. Even more inspiring, the proceeds supported the Hope Center for Youth Arts, helping to bring free art back into the community
