TO BE A FILMMAKER, YOU HAVE TO LEAD. YOU HAVE TO BE PSYCHOTIC IN YOUR DESIRE TO DO SOMETHING. PEOPLE ALWAYS LIKE THE EASY ROUTE. YOU HAVE TO PUSH VERY HARD TO GET SOMETHING UNUSUAL, SOMETHING DIFFERENT.- Danny BoyleONE OF THE THINGS I CHERISH ABOUT @niyi_akinmolayan AND PAPA @tkelani and @itsrohitshetty IS THE STYLE .IT IS IMPORTANT TO CREATE YOUR OWN VISUAL STYLE… LET IT BE UNIQUE FOR YOURSELF AND YET IDENTIFIABLE TO OTHERS.You will notice I was constantly talking,it is important because without actors understanding your ideology there is no Movie.Big Respect to My Honorables @gideonokeke.ng, @officialkeppyekpenyong.. I will tell us something about @gideonokeke.ng because hmmm we are blessed. by @directorakuma

Last month, I attended the Hollyland Academy Lagos Workshop ā€œCreate. Capture. Broadcast.ā€ a hands-on masterclass series designed for creatives and media professionals, in partnership with Creativerse Hub. The workshop focused on modern wireless video/audio transmission, practical shooting scenarios, and live production techniques for television commercials and beyond.Featuring industry professionals like Dada Temitope @oluwadabest and Ikugbayigbe Oluwatosin, every session was packed with practical insight and real industry experience. It was more than just an event.I honestly wish it lasted more than a day because every session was informative and engaging.Thank you once again for creating such a valuable experience. To our host thank you.Olanrewaju ToluAnd to our sponsors@thecreativersehub@hollyland.mea@ulanzi_nigeria by @directorakuma

The Power of RelationshipsIf all you have to pay for everything is money…then maybe you are poorer than you think.Because some doors don’t open because you paid. They open because someone trusts you.Because someone remembers your kindness.Because somewhere along the line, you built people, not just your pocket.Sometimes the greatest blessing in your lifewon’t come as cash…it will come as a person.Just a thought.#Authenticity #FilmCommunity #SocialMediaTruths #CreativeIndustry #justathought by @directorakuma

Watching Other People’s StorySometimes…we get so busy watching other people live their lives that we slowly forget how to live ours.Scrolling endlessly.Watching people succeed.Watching relationships.Watching vacations.Watching achievements. And before you know it…you’ve become a full-time audience in your own life.ā€œIf all you do is watch other people’s story, you might forget how to write yours.ā€#Authenticity #FilmCommunity #SocialMediaTruths #CreativeIndustry #justathought by @directorakuma

The "Stand-In" TrapWhen someone asks you to cover for them, they aren't just giving you a task; they are giving you their reputation. Using that moment to "pitch yourself" isn't being "smart",it’s a breach of contract and character.Character is what you do when the person who gave you the keys isn't looking. If you're wondering why you aren't progressing, look at how you treat the people who open doors for you.Stop trying to sit where you didn’t put a chair. If you were sent to represent, do exactly that. Your time will come, but it shouldn't come at the cost of your integrity. āœŒšŸ¾ #CreativeEthics #IntegrityFirst #professionalism #justathought #talkingheads by @directorakuma

The "Private Mentor" vs. The "Public Ghost"It’s a strange feeling, isn’t it? You spend hours in the DMs or on the phone with someone who has all the "answers" for your career, your style, or your next big move. They’re quick to tell you what you’re doing wrong or how you should pivot. But the moment you actually hit post? Crickets. šŸ¦—There’s a massive gap between giving advice and giving support. The Hidden GapAdvice is cheap: It’s easy to play the expert behind closed doors. It makes the advisor feel powerful.Support is currency: A like, a comment, or a share is a public endorsement. It tells the algorithm (and the world) that this person is worth watching.Surround yourself with the people who don’t just tell you how to build the stage, but actually show up to sit in the front row when you perform.Build the stage with people who actually show up to sit in the front row. šŸ“£Real ones support out loud. šŸ“£#Authenticity #FilmCommunity #SocialMediaTruths #CreativeIndustry #JustAThought by @directorakuma

Today let's talk about those we don't get to see.THE CREW.There’s a version of filmmaking where audience never sees the one that happens long before ā€œactionā€ is called and long after ā€œcutā€ is said. It lives in exhaustion, in logistics, in quiet sacrifice. That world belongs to the crew. These are the people who build the film from the ground up production assistants, gaffers, grips, sound recordists, art department, continuity, assistant directors. Their names roll quickly in the credits, if the audience even stays to watch. But on set, they are the spine of everything. They don’t chase applause. They chase deadlines. An actor can step into character for a few intense hours. The crew lives inside the production for weeks or months. They wake up earlier, sleep later, and carry the weight of continuity across the entire project. If an actor forgets a line, you reset. If the crew fails, the whole production collapses. Then there’s the living conditions. In some Production , the reality is raw. Crew members share tight hotel rooms sometimes 3 to 5 people in a space meant for two. Some don’t get rooms at all. They sleep on rugs, on tiles, on chairs pushed together. You’ll find someone from the lighting team curled up beside equipment cases, catching 30 minutes of sleep before the next setup. They still get call time for 7 am while actors get call time for 9/10 amAnd they still show up sharp, Still solving problems.Still making the director’s vision look effortless.Crew members may be spoken to harshly, ignored, or pushed too hard without appreciation.Still, they keep going.Because for them, filmmaking is not just work it’s dedication to the story. So when people say ā€œthis film is amazing,ā€ what they’re really praising is a machine powered by unseen hands. So to every crew member out there your work matters. Your effort is seen, even if not by everyone. One day, your consistency will speak for you.Keep pushing. Keep creating. You are the real backbone of every film.Appreciate the Directors , Production Manager, Producer etc ..that has treated you well.God Bless. by @directorakuma

I just finished watching ā€œMirror & Reflectionā€ by @bimboademoye , and honestly, this is not just a film it’s an emotional experience that lingers long after the credits roll. It feels like cinema experience on YouTube, with standout attention to quality, set design, and costume execution šŸ’ÆThis story goes beyond entertainment; it quietly forces you inward. The performances across the board are compelling every cast member brought their A-game. Bimbo Ademoye delivers with precision and emotional control; nothing feels exaggerated. You don’t watch her act you feel her presence in every moment.A special mention to @layiwasabi whose performance brings balance and relief while still carrying key emotional weight. His dialogue delivery and expressions were sharp, intentional, and impactful šŸ’Æ@Sonia_uche also stands out strongly arguably a standout performance. Her portrayal feels grounded, evolving, and deeply intentional, especially in her emotionally controlled scenes with her mother. There’s a quiet intensity in how she communicates pain without overdoing it.@Shine_rosman (my star girl) also deserves praise she speaks less, but her presence speaks louder. Through her eye contact, stillness, and movement, she communicates more than words ever could.Another strong point is the writing. Every line feels intentional. The dialogue is deliberately minimal in key moments, allowing performance and silence to carry emotional weight. That is disciplined storytelling and it works beautifully here. One line that stayed with me the most:ā€œAre you going to stay and fight, or are you going to run again?ā€That alone carries the emotional core of the film.8/10 by @directorakuma
