She's here. Lady Muerte has arrived!

A massive thanks to everyone who helped with this record

@cinder.ash for the artwork that inspired the whole thing and this jaw dropping album art. This quite literally never would have happened without you. Thank you

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the sounds. Every single one of you are magical

@blywallentine of @thetoasteroven.mp3 - mastering
@accountnoah - drums
@super_sam_swag - upright bass and cello
@pfuzzofficial - violin
@disinterested5d - lap steel
@annieplattart - vocals
Lodei Nicksic - saxophone and flute from the spontaneous meditation at the park in Bellingham.
And thank you to the park for the birds and the planes

Thank you to mother nature for your storms. Your timing was always eerily accurate

Thank you to the birds outside my window. The tree you lived in is no longer with us 😢

And thank you to everyone else who's been on the ride with me. The people I've played it live with in its various iterations.

And finally, thank you to Lady Muerte. For the last 3+ years, you've been my guiding star. Pushing me to grow my skills and my network until I could harvest the seeds you planted that winter. @wasteland_records exists in large part due to your guidance

Happy solstice!

My new record Songs for the Fall is out now on my website (link in bio). It's also available for purchase and download on Bandcamp.

It's a collection of 3 acoustic tunes I've been playing at most of my shows recently, and deserved to be captured. They're stitched together with 3 piano interludes. I found them in my field recordings from Seattle where I recorded the piano tracks for Lady Muerte, and @spaceranchstudios recorded the lap steel.

This is a mournful, contemplative record. A contrast to the carefree joy of Songs for the Sun from July.

Songs for the Fall hits the rest of the streaming services on December 23rd.

Thank you to
@zestyesty for the block print + album art

Shedding over the changes to St James Infirmary

At this tempo, If I think too hard about my hands, I stumble. I must trust them, and trust my ear.
Trust my feeling.

If I carry the stumble with me, I crash. I must move forward. This is a game of rhythms after all.

Life moves too fast to think everything through.

ps come to my show on Friday xoxo by @dirkjeffreylamb

I finally got someone to show me how clawhammer works, and I think it's starting to make sense. But I'm definitely working against my guitar instincts. I'm sure they still bleed through. If I try to think to hard about it, it all falls apart

G minor tuning is fun.

Btw I might do a lil tour to Salt Lake in September... Hmu if you wanna play some music or make a show happen

LINK IN BIO to RSVP and to see THE WALL OF CONTESTANTS.

This will be the 3rd Annual MSD, where multiple local bands have attributed to meeting bandmates (success)!

It’s an a-romantic speed date, where your host Apis will pair you up with other instrumentalists with the closest genres for 5 minute musical improv rounds.

Even if you don’t get to play with who you want, talk to them afterwards to arrange your own private play dates.

Here's a tune I found on a busted (but delightfully well tuned) piano near the dining hall Post OCF. It was tucked away in the trees by a smoking corner, right on my walk back to camp. 3 meals a day meant I'd sit and play at that piano at least 6 times a day. I think I found this tune well after dark after wandering the 8 one night

I feel so grateful to have a piano in my home again. I haven't had one since I was a kid. I totally took it for granted growing up.

Eventually I'll get a proper recording setup set up, but for now enjoy the crunchy phone mic. Something something Brian Eno and the flaws of the medium ;)

btw I'm looking for a drummer in Eugene. If you can play breakbeats and jazz, hit my lineeeee by @dirkjeffreylamb

Some banjo on Makeout Point. @the_family_re_union was a hoot. Doubled up with @eugeneporchfest to make a rowdy weekend of music.

That was the last big adventure for a while, now I get to settle in to Eugene. Connect me with your people out here :p Especially if they know about music/studio spaces available. I need a space to set up shop with @wasteland_records. We got music to make!

Coming up:
Friday Aug 7, 6:30 pm - I play Mandolin with @johnbadgermusic at the @brigadoonwineco. We'll be joined by the incredible @bigfirmusic

Then Saturday Aug 8, 11:30 am with Ruby at @saturdaymarket by @dirkjeffreylamb
