IN 1977 YOU SENT FOR ME TO COME TO AMERICA FROM LIBERIA, AFRICA. I STILL REMEMBER WHEN YOU WALKED ME THROUGH LAX, I HAD MY BALLOON IN MY HAND & PEED MY PANTS. IF IT WASN’T FOR YOUR KINDNESS & FAITH WRITING MY MOM, A WOMAN YOU NEVER MET, SENDING TELEGRAMS FROM CALI TO LIBERIA IN THE 70’s , I WOULDN’T BE HERE TODAY , NOR MY SONS & SISTER.

YOU CAME TO ALL MY GAMES FROM YOUTH TO COLLEGE & I GOT MY SPEED FROM YOU WHEN WE USED TO RACE IN THE ALLEY IN BUENA PARK.

YOU RAISED ME TO BE A GOOD MAN, EVEN WHEN I VEERED OFF INTO THE WRONG DIRECTION, YOU NEVER GAVE UP ON ME.

YOU ALWAYS HAD MY BACK DESPITE ALL MY SHORT COMINGS, YOU GAVE ME YOUR ALL, ALWAYS! EVEN WHEN THE COPS WERE LOOKING FOR ME, YOU NEVER BROKE. YOU ACCEPTED ALL MY CALLS IN MY BRIGHTEST & DARKEST MOMENTS. A REAL REAL ONE YOU ARE 🙏🏾

YOU INSTILLED IN MY HEART KINDNESS, GENEROSITY & COMPASSION FOR ALL MANKIND.

I MISS YOU & WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, THE KINDEST PERSON I’VE EVER KNOWN.

SORRY I WASN’T THERE IN YOUR LAST HOURS and AFTER I GOT THE NEWS, I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO SEE YOU AND SIT WITH & RUB YOU & LOVE ON YOU. LATER THAT NIGHT AS I SLEPT, YOUR SPIRIT CAME TO SEE ME & YOU WRAPPED YOUR ARMS AROUND ME, I WAS SO HAPPY & IT WAS A FEELING I NEVER FELT BEFORE & I’LL NEVER FORGET THAT YOU CAME BACK TO TELL ME YOU LOVED ME.

REST IN PEACE CK, SEE YOU IN HEAVEN SOON DAD🙏🏾🩸❤️ by @dirtycali

BREAST CANCER is the most common cancer in women in the United States (excluding skin cancers)

Incidence and Lifetime Risk

• New Cases (2026 Estimate): About 321,910 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 60,730 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) will be diagnosed in U.S. women.
• Lifetime Risk: About 1 in 8 women (roughly 13%) in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime.
• Median Age at Diagnosis: 63 years old. About 16% of women diagnosed are under the age of 50.
• Male Breast Cancer: Less than 1% of all breast cancers occur in men, with an estimated 2,670 new cases and 530 deaths expected in 2026.

Deaths and Survival Rates

• Deaths (2026 Estimate): About 42,140 U.S. women will die from breast cancer.
• Leading Cause of Death: It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women (behind lung cancer), with a lifetime risk of dying from it at about 1 in 43 (2.3%).
• Death Rate Trends: The breast cancer death rate has declined by 44% overall from 1989 through 2023 due to early screening and better treatments.
• Survival Rates:
• The 5-year relative survival rate for localized breast cancer (caught early before spreading) is over 99%.
• The overall 5-year and 10-year relative survival rates for invasive breast cancer are 91% and 84%, respectively.
• Survivors: There are more than 4 million breast cancer survivors living in the U.S. today.

Stage and Risk Factors

• Localized Discovery: About 66% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at a localized stage.
• Family History / Genetics: Only about 5% to 10% of breast cancers are linked to inherited gene mutations like BRCA1 and BRCA2.
• Racial Disparities: White women are slightly more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than Black women, but Black women have a 38% higher risk of dying from the disease and higher rates of aggressive subtypes like triple-negative breast cancer. by @dirtycali
