As ALPHA GANG premieres in Telluride, Dirty Films' Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini, along with Nathan and David Zellner, sit down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the ‘alien Chekhovian' film.

"The movie finds this small group of newly arrived aliens – played by the likes of Léa Seydoux, Lily-Rose Depp, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Riley Keough, Doona Bae and Dave Bautista – working out the basics of human existence while proceeding with their vague mission of conquest. What is it to listen to music? What is this strange civil war going on just outside their lair's walls? Is it possible one of them is falling in love?
"I thought it would be funny if it's an invasion movie all from their perspective, and they have really no idea how to accomplish that goal," Nathan says."

Big news...we're thrilled to announce that ALPHA GANG, DIRTY FILMS' alien invasion comedy from the Zellner Brothers has been chosen as a Special Presentation at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival this September. 👽🎬 @tiff_net

Here's a first-look image of some of the gang (ltor): Doona Bae, Lily-Rose Depp, Léa Seydoux, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Riley Keough and Dave Bautista.

Alpha Gang follows a group of alien invaders sent to conquer Earth. Disguised in human form as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang, they are ruthless in their mission…until they succumb to the most toxic and contagious human condition of all: emotion.

Congratulations to the 8 Proof of Concept Accelerator awardees! With the support of Netflix (@wearenetflix), each participant will receive $50,000 to support a short film that will serve as a “proof of concept” for a larger scale project. The participants will also be mentored by industry experts and their films will be screened at a showcase.

“We built this program to provide tangible support for filmmakers whose work might otherwise be overlooked, and to create space for their ideas to evolve. By investing in their projects and supporting their creative development, we are working to expand access and ensure that more inclusive, dynamic storytelling reaches audiences,” said Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini (@dirtyfilms), who founded the program with Dr. Stacy L. Smith (@inclusionists).
