"My grandmama use to say some roads don't show up till you already on ‘em.”

@tjholdridge2022 -
"The House of Power" reads more like oral storytelling than written lit. After the fire, I thought, "DAMN, that would be one dark-ass, nihilistic metaphor if the story ended here." I'm glad it didn't.

Waxing esoteric: I received the words as an oddly specific reminder from my spirit guides. Needless to say, the book found me right on time. Funny how the Universe works. . .

Anywho, great story! I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your history 'guised as legend. Well done! ✊🏿😉

For every uncomfortable pair of scissors; paying a mint for every left-handed variation of instrument; unintentional ink smudges; the unnecessary trauma being forced to use your right hand; of supposedly "owning the devil a day of work. . .
*Whew* The struggle is REAL! 😂😅😭🥲

Genuine human (& spiritual) connection is unmatched. There's nothing like finding folks who get you. I'm talkin' those #IYKYK folks 😏

I'm still floored, honoured & humbled by the kind words of @themuddywatersbotanica by @dirtymetallefty

Cleaned up today and found the box where I hid one of my most precious "gems." Sucks I lost the original case, though.

I remember when my best mate asked to borrow it and reluctantly agreed. Instinct said, "Just dub a copy, don't give 'em the master."
Optimistic me said, "Nah, it's cool. This is your BEST mate. They understand how special this is."

Needless to say. . .😖😑

. . .The tape still "plays," but it is a li'l warped and has been stashed away in preservation ever since.

@aliceinchains is Forever. Friends caring for the stuff they borrow is not. 😅🎵 Follow your gut!

"My ceiling is too short for you."
-Sibelius to Marian Anderson, 1931(?)

I first got hip to the great Madame Anderson as a squirt in grade school, after randomly choosing her name out of a "hat" for a #BlackHistory report.

Obviously, her work MORE than speaks for her (#LincolnMemorial1939). And she's a Pisces ♓️ (like me 😁).

Here's what I DIDN'T learn at that time:
-First Black artist to sign with RCA Victor (c.1924)

-She and the Hubs had a farm. . .like, a full-on farm with hogs, horses, cows, chickies, etc. 🐮🐤🐴

-Built a studio on aforementioned farm 🎚🎛

-Loved working with her hands

-7 luggage bags for tour; not a crazy elaborate wardrobe but rather a sewing machine, books, and other accoutrement of hobby items and personal interest

-Spent time as a Goodwill Ambassador in the UN

So, how did I miss these and other delightful nuggets for my school report? The encyclopedia I referenced at home was published in the mid-50s. These adventures were either in progress or hadn't yet occurred at the time of publication.

And no, the internet wasn't a thing yet, and I wasn't allowed to walk to the library by myself. Leave me alone. . . I still earned an "A". 😎

Cheers to you, Madame Anderson!
Thank you (and Leontyne Price) for solidifying my love of Opera. ✊🏿🕊🎙

Happy Groundhog Day. 😏

In all seriousness, no matter how much I joke & quip about "Gimme a sec to get my life together," I'm grateful overall. Even if I feel miffed and/or ambivalent regarding specific details, I'm still grateful to make the most of what I DO have. . .

Like how this internal dumpster fire is, in fact, keeping me warm. It takes a f*ck load of energy and effort actively getting one's life together. . .which works out cos it's stupid COOOOOOOLD outside. 🥶❄️

Keep warm & resilient, Folks!
