📰❣️BIG NEWS❣️📰
Tomorrow I am getting outside my comfort zone and READING MY OWN POETRY LIVE!!!

@goblin.marketfl is giving me a chance to hard launch my future as a public speaker and also take the next step in my pursuit of disability advocacy. At 1:30 pm tomorrow, July 25th, at the @oviedomall I will be a part of the Disability Pride Showcase, reading an original poem about disability titled, “I am Disabled Dee.”

I haven’t read my own writing aloud in public since I was 13; 10 years ago. So, I’m nervous as hell, but with the support of my community and most importantly, the influence of my long-time mutual and soon-to-be published author @crutches_and_spice , I wouldn’t have ever thought to volunteer for such an opportunity.

Second pic for good measure ;)

I’m still taking it easy after my feeding tube surgery, but I WILL be in the @jendastudies / @soulhauxcollective open stage on Sunday! I know, I know, but I mean the theme is SAPPHIC…you expect me NOT to show up and show out????

Big shout out to @papi.takamii / @blackexcellencesllc for having me in your Grills vs. Grooves show last week before I had surgery! I love being black and gay with other black gays. Y’all did your big one!!!

Today I challenged myself to get out of the house and my sweet girlfriend treated me to some sweets from @lightonthesugar since now that I have my gtube back, I can eat what I want without having to be in severe pain afterwards! It’s been 5 days since my surgery and as much as I want to be healed, recovery is not something that I can rush. Thank you all for checking in and spending time with me while I rest! I love you all soooooo much! by @disableddee

🩷🐮MOOOOO!🐮🩷

I am surprisingly a bit obsessed with this number! I have never really done any funny number like this before, so it was definitely out of my comfort zone. I was really nervous about pulling it off. I have never really been one to feel “sexy” but somehow I felt that way…dressed as a sexy cow? Lol.

Thank you @cosplaychoco for recording this and taking my pictures too!

Thank you @mystreehugga / @treehuggallc for letting me perform in your open stage! I will be doing my best to rest and recover from my surgery, so that I can get the opportunity to be back up on that stage!

Yesterday I saw my cardiologist and things are going great! He started me on Corlanor a few months ago and the benefits are amazing! I haven’t fainted since taking the first dose.

I was told at my appointment yesterday that they are working on a POTS clinic in East Orlando and that their physical therapy office is doing POTS rehab already! I have my first appointment/consultation in two weeks.

I’m so grateful to have Dr. Aggarwal on my team. He even told me about how he wants to improve the quality of life of POTS patients especially because so many of us are young and AFAB, which predisposes us to not being taken seriously. I cannot recommend him more!!

Today @puzzlesandpandas and I went to go visit @gallows_gags_and_giggles in the hospital! I love these two weirdos with every fibre of my being oh my god. I can’t believe that I have only known them for 9 months. It feels more like 9 years!

Also I love being able to take my @quantum_rehab powerchair out because it gives me the freedom to be independent with the people I love! I have been working on transportation arrangements to be able to take this chair out of my house more often! by @disableddee

In honor of July being Disability Pride Month, I’m posting this 2021 archival footage from my first lip sync where I didn’t hide my feeding tube.

Having a feeding tube is something that has truly saved my life a multitude of times for the past 6 years. I genuinely would have died at age 17 if these devices weren’t available.

The thing is, even though I can recognize that having a feeding tube is nothing to be ashamed of, I still experience disability grief and body dysmorphia as a result of having a feeding tube.

In February, before I started taking drag seriously, my feeding tube fell out and I have been working with my gastroenterology team to replace it. However, I have gotten so confident and acclimated to being without a tube over the past few months.

I am currently waiting on a call from the scheduling department of my hospital to schedule surgery to replace my tube, hopefully this month. This is great because I should never have been without this device, however I am experiencing a plethora of conflicting emotions regarding what my life, body, and drag will look like post-op.

I have this valid yet surprising fear of my body with a feeding tube deterring audiences and show runners from my drag.

Ironic right? The disabled drag queen named “Disabilidee” that preaches disabled love, joy and acceptance is scared to present as more explicitly disabled.

The point of me being open about my struggles like this is not to entice pity or outside validation, but rather to show that even the most proud activists have their battles.

If you stuck around to read this whole message and watched this while performance, thank you. I appreciate you, I see you, and I love you. -Disabilidee

July 11th at 6pm, I am having a dinner for my friends to celebrate my mom’s life and her impact.

This dinner is open to any of my close friends that my mom’s love impacted personally. Even if you only met her via text, by proxy of me, or you never met her but feel impacted by the love she gave; please feel welcome to attend!

Dress Code: Colorful! My mom’s biggest and most explicit want regarding her passing was for people to celebrate the color and love and light she exuded into the world by wearing vivid colors; so none of that somber black funeral attire!
Food: Will be catered and all vegetarian with gluten free options.
Please DM me on THIS ACCOUNT to RSVP for location (WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VENUE)!

(Also big thanks fo @omg.sabamfa for designing this flyer for me, my mom loved you and your wife so much and your help means the works to me 💜) by @disableddee

Happy Disability Pride Month from this disabled dancer to all the others out there!

Being disabled is something that I have always taken pride in, but it did keep me from dancing for almost a decade and that was the hardest time of my life. I had a want, a craving, a need to dance but was just not accommodated in any dance space I entered.

Then I met @gallows_gags_and_giggles and @puzzlesandpandas and they introduced me to the wonderful @sarahfanok who invited me to join @thelimitlessdanceensemble !

I have felt more like myself over the past 5 months of being a Limitless dancer than I ever did in the 9 years I spent not dancing. Not only that, but I met my amazing best friends and support system through TLDE!

I encourage everyone that wants to dance to never give up on finding a space to do so.

Dance is not only an art and a sport, but it’s also a language of love.
