hi!!! welcome!! i’m Laurie! 🫶

now that you know a little bit about me, I want to know a little bit about you too 🙇🏼🧚🏼‍♂️🤭 so, say hi below!!

I am generally an open book, so feel free to ask me anything, if you’re curious about my health, or anything really! day-to-day, I struggle most with chronic pain, fatigue, subluxations, gastro issues, bloating & pain, severe dizziness & all the other lovely POTS things, plus random rashes & food allergies 🙃

currently I have diagnoses of: hEDS, POTS (+IST), MCAS (+ILO), FND, ADHD, IBS / ongoing gastro investigations, fibromyalgia, eczema & TSW (but this is now a lot more under control as I am on biologics) -

although most have only been diagnosed in the past 4/5 years, i’ve had symptoms for 10+ years & it took YEARS of fighting to get any diagnoses (… shock)

as a late teen, I also went through quite severe mental health struggles -over the years, though, I’ve slowly built healthier coping mechanisms, found support systems & had lots of therapy, so generally do okay on that front these days… although I am well aware that it’s still so hard walking through the world as someone with a complex health + mental health history!! 🌀

anyway… i’d love to get to know all the lovely humans who are here, rather than just have you be a number on a follower count. so, hi! 🫶tell me about you ♡

sometimes things can build and build and they eventually feel like they’re crumbling down a bit, but it’s okay (: things get better, we get better at coping, broken ties can be fixed

i hope the october slide isn’t hitting anyone as hard as me today, but if you are feeling like an absolute failure, just remember that you’re not & that you’ll get through it 🥲

life is not linear , even if we wish things would slow down sometimes╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

trying to live joyfully can feel impossible with chronic illness, especially when you’re also navigating the mental health struggles, financial difficulties, lack of understanding + everything else that can come with it.

so our ‘healing era’ is probably going to look a little different 🥹

i wouldn’t say i’ve managed to find joy through it all, but i have had little moments and glimpses of happiness along the way. and i think that’s how i know a brighter time is possible for me, even if i’m not quite there yet on some days.

sending so much love to everyone in the spoonie community feeling the ‘october slide’ right now, but holding onto hope that there are brighter days ahead 🫶

what people think chronic illness is like vs. what it really looks like <3

the little ‘benefits’ aren’t a reward for being ill — they’re literally there to make life a little easier.

if i could swap all of them for being able-bodied + healthy, i would in a heartbeat. and i know a lot of other people would too ^ - ^

chronic illness is so weird at times - i can feel absolutely awful + unwell and still come away from seeing someone or being out thinking “that was such a lovely day” 🥹

SO @ my disabled besties (+ our loved ones!), remember that being unwell and having fun aren’t mutually exclusive, sometimes we just have to experience the fun alongside the symptoms.🥹

…honestly, i’ll take some new good memories wherever i can get them, even if there’s usually some pain or sickness sprinkled in ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

the amount of mental gymnastics chronically ill people can end up doing before a doctors appointment is honestly ridiculous 🙃 it makes me wanna cryyyy¡!

what am i going to wear? do i look too well? do i look too unwell? should i take my walking stick, crutches, rollator? will they think i’m exaggerating if i look too put together? will they judge me if i don’t?

but realistically NONE of this should matter🥹 constantly feeling judged for appearance is so so sooooo silly! i just want to be comfy and supporting my body as best as i can ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

PoTS is still such a misunderstood condition, & awareness is often still so lacking (booooo!)

r.e diagnosis, generally people require a sustained increase in HR Of 30+ bpm, often diagnosed through a tilt table test and sometimes an extended heart ECG! all this being said, it is a very real medical condition.

hopefully this is helpful for some people <3 🫶🕺✨
