🎵 VARIOUS ARTISTS
💿 la locura de machuca 1975–1980
🎛️ 2020 Analog Africa
🌎 Barranquilla 🇨🇴

La Locura de Machuca is a wild journey into Colombia’s coastal underground. Between 1975 and 1980, one man brought some of the strangest, most hypnotic sounds to vinyl. A mind-bending collection of Afro-Caribbean psychedelia, experimental cumbia, and champeta that sounds as wonderfully bizarre today as it did decades ago.

🎵 ASTOR PIAZZOLLA Y SU QUINTETO
💿 en el teatro regina
🎛️ 1970/2018 RCA Victor•Sony Music
🌎 Mar del Plata, PBA 🇦🇷

This 1970 Piazzolla record holds historical significance as the first live album recorded and released in Argentina. Tracked at Buenos Aires’ Teatro Regina on 19 May, it captures the first time his masterwork, Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, was ever performed and released together.

According to the original sleeve’s liner notes, when Piazzolla first heard the playback of the concert, he famously told his musicians, “Me puedo morir tranquilo” (I can die in peace)—relieved to finally capture the raw energy of a crowd rather than the cold, nervous environment of a closed recording studio.

The performance features his core quintet:

Astor Piazzolla: Bandoneón
Antonio Agri: Violin
Cacho Tirao: Electric Guitar
Osvaldo Manzi: Piano
Kicho Díaz: Contrabass
