Ο Πύργος του Ρολογιού της Έδεσσας είναι ένα εμβληματικό ορόσημο που κατασκευάστηκε γύρω στο 1900 από τον μάστορα Κωνσταντίνο Ζήση.

Πληροφορίες για το Μνημείο

Τοποθεσία: Βρίσκεται στο κέντρο της Έδεσσας, δίπλα από τον Σύλλογο Φιλοπροόδου «Μέγας Αλέξανδρος».

Αρχιτεκτονική: Η βάση του είναι χτισμένη από ανθεκτική σιδηρόπετρα, ενώ διαθέτει ιδιαίτερη οκτάγωνη ή εξαγωνική μορφή με ρολόγια στην κορυφή του.

Ιστορία: Αποτέλεσε επί δεκαετίες την «καρδιά» και το σημείο αναφοράς της πόλης για τις καθημερινές ασχολίες των κατοίκων.

Clock Tower of Edessa

Ο Πύργος του Ρολογιού στην Έδεσσα αποτελούσε επί δεκαετίες, εκτός από τους περίφημους καταρράκτες της, ένα σύμβολο της πόλης. Ειδικά στα πρώτα χρόνια της λειτουργίας του, όταν η σημασία του στην καθημερινή ζωή των ανθρώπων ήταν πραγματικά καθοριστική καθώς οι περισσότεροι δεν είχαν άλλον τρόπο να γνωρίζουν την ώρα σε κάθε στιγμή της ημέρας, υπήρξε σημείο αναφοράς.

Χτίστηκε στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα (1906-1907), με βάση από σιδηρόπετρα και το υπόλοιπο κτίσμα από πουρόπετρα. Το σχήμα του θυμίζει μεσαιωνικό πύργο, ενώ στη βόρεια πλευρά υπάρχει εντοιχισμένη πλάκα με το όνομα του αρχιμάστορα Κωνσταντίνου Ζήση, που είχε αναλάβει την κατασκευή με τα αδέρφια του.

The Clock Tower in Edessa was for decades, apart from its famous waterfalls, a symbol of the city. Especially in the early years of its operation, when its importance in people's daily lives was really crucial as most people had no other way of knowing the time at any moment of the day, it was a reference point.

It was built at the beginning of the 20th century (1906-1907), with a base made of ironstone and the rest of the building made of gunmetal. Its shape is reminiscent of a medieval tower, while on the north side, there is a built-in plaque with the name of the master builder Konstantinos Zisis, who was in charge of the construction with his brothers.

Siamo ancora a Edessa e abbiamo fatto un’altra passeggiata nel parco delle cascate.
La cascata principale, Karanos, con i suoi 70 metri di altezza, è la più grande della Grecia. Da non perdere il suggestivo percorso che passa proprio dietro l’imponente tenda d’acqua, realizzato per ammirare da vicino la forza della cascata! 💦

Da questo lato della cittadina abbiamo anche una splendida vista sulla fertile pianura macedone che si apre davanti agli occhi. 😍

Se vi fa piacere, organizziamo con grande entusiasmo un piccolo tour in questa zona della Grecia, ancora poco conosciuta e tutta da scoprire! 🇬🇷
