Say hello to TX Creamery and Hey Sugar Candy Store, now open in the 300 block of Main Street! 🤩

With tons of delicious ice cream flavors made right here in their NEW production facility, you can even peek through the glass and watch the ice cream-making magic happen! Enjoy cones, cups, milkshakes, candy galore, and a huge selection of vintage sodas. 🍭🥤

But here’s the scoop… this building has quite the history! 👀

From 1884–1892, this location was home to The White Elephant Restaurant & Saloon, which featured a restaurant, billiards hall, saloon, and even upstairs gambling rooms! The original structure was devastated by fire not once, but TWICE. 🔥

To celebrate the building’s history, TX Creamery has created a special White Elephant ice cream flavor! And for our hometown fans, there’s even a Denison Yellow Jackets flavor! 💛🖤

Whether you’re craving something sweet or love a little local history, this is one downtown stop you won’t want to miss!

Saturday, October 10th was a memorable day of honoring service, celebrating history, and recognizing the lasting legacy of leadership and dedication in our community.

The day began with the Eisenhower Brick Dedication at the Eisenhower Monument, honoring the brave veterans and active-duty service members who have served and continue to serve our nation. The ceremony featured Maj. Gen. Eldon Joersz, USAF (Ret.), reminding us of the importance of recognizing those who have answered the call to serve.

We then gathered at the Eisenhower Birthplace to celebrate President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 136th birthday, reflecting on the life, leadership, and enduring legacy of one of our nation’s most distinguished presidents. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate his remarkable contributions to our country and remember the history rooted right here in our community.

The day concluded with the Lt. Col. Bredette “BC” Thomas, USAF (Ret.), Mural Dedication, honoring a legacy of service and celebrating the power of art to preserve the stories of those who have made a lasting impact.

From honoring our military heroes to celebrating presidential history and recognizing extraordinary individuals, October 10th was a powerful reminder of the people, service, and stories that shape our nation and community.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make these meaningful events possible. Together, we continue to honor our past, celebrate our present, and preserve our legacy for future generations.

“Flight” has been reinstalled at 319 W Main! This public art statue was created by local artists Jodi Castelli and Mark Niemi. It depicts a bird in flight, like a phoenix rising from the remains of the fire that destroyed several buildings at this location in 2019. The graceful metal sculpture uses material from the former buildings including iron beams with accent pieces and blue tile.
