Guyana’s sustainable tourism journey continues to take shape.

Today, the Guyana Tourism Authority placed the spotlight on the Green Destinations Good Travel Seal certification programme as part of the Sustainable Tourism Forum held in observance of World Tourism Day 2026.

Here’s a look at the day’s proceedings, featuring Kamrul Baksh, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Romel Richmond, Manager of Statistics & Research, and Elisabeth Boon, Business Certification and Assurance Manager of the Good Travel Institute, who continues to play an integral role in Guyana’s sustainable certification through the Green Destinations Good Travel Seal Programme.

Celebrating the richness of Guyana’s Indigenous heritage through sport, culture and community. 🇬🇾✨

The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Hon. Susan Rodrigues, joined the celebrations at the Amerindian Heritage Games, held at the Everest Cricket Ground, experiencing an afternoon filled with sporting activities, traditional Indigenous cuisine and cultural expressions.

From cheering on the games to sampling local dishes and taking part in a traditional dance, the occasion was a meaningful celebration of the traditions, talent and vibrant culture that continue to shape Guyana’s identity.

Guyana’s birding story continues to take flight. 🐦🇬🇾✨

Nineteen tourism professionals have been recognised through Guyana’s bird guide accreditation programmes, adding to the growing network of skilled guides who help visitors discover and appreciate our remarkable birdlife.

Twelve guides completed Phase One of the Coastal Bird Guide Accreditation, while seven Rupununi-based guides completed the Bird Guide Accreditation Programme and received their Local Bird Guide Accreditation.

From the coast to the Rupununi, these guides are helping bring Guyana’s rich biodiversity to life—one bird, one trail and one unforgettable experience at a time. 🌿🦜
