🇮🇹 The Old Country comes to the Lowcountry! The 16th Annual Italian Heritage Festival is Saturday, October 17 at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. And how fitting that it falls on National Pasta Day! 🍝

Enjoy Italian food, live music, arts and crafts, a kids’ zone, grape stomping, a pizza eating contest and more. 11 AM to 4 PM. 🍕

Tickets are $8, with children under 10 free.

Today is Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to recognize and learn more about the Native peoples who have shaped the history of the Lowcountry.

Here in the Hilton Head Island area, that history stretches back thousands of years. Archaeological sites like the Green’s Shell Enclosure, dating to around 1335 A.D., reveal communities who farmed, lived in large villages and traded shell objects throughout the region. Nearby South Bluff Shell Rings date back as far as 5,000 years.

Take a moment today to explore the rich Indigenous history of South Carolina and the people who came before us.
