Get ready for some pumpkin-filled fun in Ilkley this half term with Ilkley's first Pumpkin Festival, running from Friday 23rd October to Sunday 1st November, with plenty of FREE family fun to enjoy in town. 🎃

The highlight will be a special day of free pumpkin activities at Canker Well (on The Grove) on Wednesday 28th October, from 10.30am–4pm. There’ll be a professional pumpkin-carving demonstration from @sandinyoureye, free pumpkin lantern-making workshops throughout the day, a Pumpkin Patch where you can choose your own pumpkin to carve, and special Halloween backdrops for some fabulously spooky photos.

And the pumpkin fun doesn’t stop there!

17 Ilkley businesses are taking part in our Pumpkin Trail, each creating and displaying their own carved pumpkin. Follow the trail around town, see how many you can find and enter for the chance to win a £50 Ilkley Gift Card.

Have you visited the Abreast exhibition at the Tinker Gallery yet? 💗

Taking place throughout October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this thought-provoking exhibition brings together art, photography and personal stories.

Still Me, curated by Laura Slater of @lumierephotographic, forms part of the exhibition. Laura photographed women who have experienced breast cancer and invited them to share their stories in their own words.

The portraits and personal accounts are displayed side by side, giving each woman the opportunity to decide how she is seen and what she wants others to understand about her experience.

Abreast runs until the end of the month (Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) and 25 per cent of sales will go towards breast cancer research and support.

On Saturday 17th October, from 10am to 5pm, Wharfedale Piano Teachers are hosting a full-day training and networking event at Christchurch in Ilkley, packed with inspiring presentations, practical teaching ideas, lively discussions and opportunities to connect with fellow piano teachers.

From Classical to Jazz Piano – a smooth crossing or…?

West Yorkshire piano teacher and active musician David Nelson will explore the connections between classical and jazz piano, drawing on his experience of jazz, playing by ear, music theory, composition and wider musicianship.

The Friends of Ilkley Moor have announced 2 more events for October:

1) 𝐈𝐥𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 - 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟖𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝐩𝐦 – 𝟒𝐩𝐦 | An event to learn about the Sustainable Farming Initiative (SFI) moorland survey the FoIM have been undertaking on the moor, to assess the condition of the vegetation, soil type and erosion. Learn the survey methodology, why it is being undertaken and take part in a trial survey of a small area.

The winners of the 'Everything Yorkshire Competition' organised by The Art Shops in Ilkley have been announced.

Congratulations to Tim Gomersal who was the People’s Choice Winner with his picture entitled 'Whitby Harbour, Chance of Rain'.

And congratulations to Deborah Dyer, the Judges’ Choice Winner with her picture 'Walking to Cavendish Pavilion, Bolton Abbey' .

Their paintings are currently on display at The Art Shop Gallery on South Hawksworth Street.

Well done Tim and Deborah, well done to all the finalists and thanks to everyone who voted!

Sarah Turner from Ilkley's @littlebeausheep is almost two weeks into her 90-Day Wool Habit challenge, wearing the same bespoke British wool dress every day for 90 days!

Made by Ilkley-based tailors @nortonandtownsend, the dress is at the heart of Sarah’s mission to explore what happens when we wear more, wash less and take better care of the clothes we own.

Since 1st October, Sarah has worn it to walk the dog, attend meetings, run errands, enjoy an evening out and even attend a prestigious awards ceremony.

She’s also teamed up with local businesses, including @jigsaw.ilkley and @atticwomenswear, to accessorise the dress and demonstrate just how versatile one outfit can be.

These photos show some of the different ways Sarah styled her dress during the first few days of week one. We can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
