Meet Giza🖤, one of the world’s rarest big cats: a black leopard roaming the wilds of Laikipia, Kenya. Her name means 'darkness' in Swahili, fitting for a creature so elusive that she was once believed to be a myth.

Unlike typical leopards, Giza’s inky coat is caused by melanism, a rare genetic condition that gives her fur a black appearance while still showing the iconic rosette spots in certain lighting.

🖤 Spotted only in a handful of places on Earth, black leopards are incredibly rare, and Giza is one of the few ever captured clearly on camera in Africa.

What the hell is this?!? 😡😡😡

At what point do we admit that this has gone too far?

Somewhere along the way, “once-in-a-lifetime wildlife encounters” became a race for the perfect Instagram shot.

If this is the future of tourism in the Maasai Mara, then we’ve completely lost sight of what people came here to experience in the first place.

Wildlife should never have to perform for an audience ‼️

Tourism is vital for conservation…but tourism without limits stops serving conservation and starts exploiting it.

The Maasai Mara is one of the most extraordinary ecosystems on Earth. Treating it like an open-air theme park is not sustainable, and frankly extremely unethical!!

This needs to stop!!!

Planning your first safari? 📌📌 Save this post before you book.

It covers the things most itineraries, travel blogs, and brochures don’t mention, but they can completely change your experience.

✨⬇️ A few extra tips that didn’t make it into the carousel:

✔️ Always ask how many guests share one vehicle. Fewer people usually means better views and more flexibility at sightings. Or you can book a private 4x4 all to yourself.

✔️ If photography is important to you, ask whether everyone is guaranteed a window seat and if seats rotate between game drives. Ask for a bean bag setup if you are carrying big camera lens.

✔️ If your budget allows, add one extra safari day instead of upgrading your accommodation. An extra game drive usually adds more value than a fancier room.

✔️ Don’t overpack. Neutral-coloured, comfortable clothing is all you need, you’ll wear the same outfits more than once, and nobody cares.

✔️ Keep your expectations open. Some of the most unforgettable moments aren’t the Big Five, they’re the unexpected ones you never planned for.

Ever wondered what an entire day on an African safari actually feels like? 😍🦓🐘🦒🐐🐒🐃🦌

It starts before sunrise 🌅
5:00 AM alarms don’t feel so bad when you’re waking up for this.

A quick coffee, heading into the savannah before sunrise, watching the plains come alive, celebrating every new sighting, breakfast in the middle of the African bush, hours spent tracking big cats, spotting a leopard fast asleep, skipping lunch because a cheetah was nearby, crossing the Mara River, chasing golden-hour light, ending the day with lions at sunset... and finally returning to camp, dusty, exhausted, and already excited to do it all again tomorrow 🤩💯

That’s the thing about safari - you don’t just watch wildlife, you become part of nature’s schedule.

Every drive is different. Every turn could be the moment you’ve been waiting for. Some days you spend hours searching, and then, in a single minute, everything changes.
