Did you know?

The @discovery_map app has exclusive deals for small businesses all over Burlington (and across Vermont).

I recently explored Burlington using the app and found some great spots! The app is entirely free to download, so there’s not reason not to use to save all across the city.

Here’s what I got up to:

I startd the day at @alimentarivt on St. Paul Street, where I got a pesto formaggio sandwich and an Italian soda. It was so yummy!

I bought a box of truffles (so amazing) from @nuchocolat on Battery Street.

Next, I headed down to the waterfront to do some people watching before popping into @echo_vt to learn more about the critters that live in Lake Champlain.

For dinner, I went to an old standby: @vtpubandbrew for a burger (vegetarian), fries, and an IPA before meandering on Church Street for a bit.

I enjoyed a salted caramel ice cream cone from @lcchocolates and then headed back down to the waterfront for sunset.

It was the perfect summer day in Burlington!

Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Discovery Map! The United States is turning 250, and from California to Vermont, it’s looking as beautiful as ever.

One of the best things about this country is just how much there is to discover. From rocky coastlines and quiet mountain towns to historic Main Streets, desert highways, lake communities, national parks, beach towns, and downtowns full of character, the wide-ranging majesty of America is something special.

Discovery Map is proud to be in different corners of the country, each one highlighting the places, businesses, landmarks, and local stories that make each area worth exploring.

However you’re celebrating this weekend, we hope it includes good food, fireworks, time outside, and maybe even a new favorite place along the way.

For the past several weeks, we’ve been running a contest to bring one lucky winner to beautiful Burlington, Vermont. Since Discovery Map is based here in Vermont, we were especially excited to offer someone the chance to experience one of our favorite places in the best season of the year.

The perfect Burlington summer getaway has a little bit of everything: a cozy stay at the Lang House, time spent exploring Church Street, a sail on Lake Champlain with Whistling Man Schooner Co, and dinner at one of the Farmhouse Group's great restaurants. It’s the kind of trip that shows off exactly why we love Burlington in the summer.

A great Burlington weekend deserves a great Burlington meal. We’ve told you where, now let’s tell you why.

The Farmhouse Group has three great restaurants all within a couple blocks of each other in Downtown Burlington. Here’s a little taste of each:

1. The Farmhouse Tap and Grill is a farm-to-table gastropub that has become a staple of Downtown Burlington. This is an award winning restaurant that sources what they serve from “Vermont’s backyard,” including burgers, beers, and fresh seasonal salads. The back patio is perfect for beautiful Burlington summer nights.

2. Pascolo Ristorante brings handmade Italian food to the heart of downtown Burlington, tucked inside a gorgeous basement space that feels worlds away from the bustle of Church Street. You’ll find fresh pasta, house-made salumi, Northeast seafood, a thoughtful wine list, and well-made cocktails.

3. One of the most recognizable establishments in Downtown Burlington, El Cortijo is a taco joint in an old 1950s diner. Their farm-to-taco menu includes tacos, burritos, house margaritas, and fresh local flavor make it a great stop for something casual and fun.
