Field season is in full swing at the Discovery Center! 🚣🌿Our Delaware River Watershed Program, in partnership with Sovereign Consulting, has been out on the water collecting water quality data and field samples to better understand the aquatic environment and overall health of the Strawberry Mansion Lake and surrounding habitat.This monitoring helps us establish baseline conditions, track seasonal changes, and better understand the factors contributing to late-summer algal blooms. The information we collect will help inform future habitat management and restoration efforts across the site.Water quality research is just one piece of the larger habitat restoration efforts taking place at the Discovery Center. It may look quite empty on our front lawn, but The Discovery Center is working on some maintenance in our Meadow’s Pollinator Garden.Recently, the field has been seeded with some natural plants such as Little Bluestem, Goldenrod, Cardinal Flower, Aster, and Black Eyed Susan.Keep an eye out in the next month for sprouts and for this empty field to come back to life! by @discoveryphila

Sadly, it looks like the forecast for tonight is expecting scattered thunderstorms. And while we usually don’t mind a light drizzle, safety for our volunteers is our top priority. The new volunteer night will take place on Tuesday, July 28th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Have you seen these flowers? 🌼.This may look like a sunflower… but it is actually called a 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘦 sunflower! .The flowers serve as a pollen and nectar source for beneficial insect pollinators.
