St. Paisios constantly warned us not to judge the Church by the weaknesses of her members. The Church is holy because Christ is her Head, not because every Christian, priest, monk, or bishop is perfect.

There have always been sinners inside the Church. In fact, the Church is like a spiritual hospital: people enter because they are sick and need healing.
If you see hypocrisy, scandal, pride, or bad behavior, do not let it separate you from Christ.
Do not abandon the medicine because some patients are sick.

Pray, remain faithful, and look to the saints who show us what life in the Church is meant to become.
Christ did not promise that every person in the Church would be holy He gave us the Church so that sinners could become holy.

We can carry many burdens in this life. We can struggle, endure pain, overcome trials and even experience worldly triumphs. But when I look upon Christ carrying His Cross, I am humbled, because nothing I carry can ever be compared to what He willingly carried for us.

The weight of that Cross was not only physical. Upon it He bore the sins of the world, willingly accepting suffering, humiliation and death, not for Himself, but for the salvation of mankind.

The Cross is the greatest victory the world has ever witnessed. What appeared to be defeat was the triumph of Christ over death. What appeared to be weakness was perfect strength. And what appeared to be the end became the beginning of our salvation.

There is no sacrifice greater than laying down one's life for another. Christ did not merely teach us about sacrifice, He became the ultimate example of it.

So whenever I think my own burdens are heavy, I look to the Cross and remember: He carried what I could never carry, so that I might have life.

Glory to our Crucified and Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

I’ve never understood this damned argument. If the saints are truly dead, then Christ didn’t vanquish death.

The objection only weakens their own version of Christianity.

I can ask Jerry at Jiffy Lube to pray for me, but asking a heavenly friend who is alive in Christ to pray for me is somehow a sin? Or are you admitting we all die spiritually after our physical death?
