📣 Presenting, Performance in Code: Deciphering Value in Generative Art, Powered by Tezos. November 29 - December 3, 2022 at Art Basel Miami Beach. 🌴

This interactive exhibition, built on #Tezos, an energy-efficient blockchain, will explore mathematical probability and its effect on rarity and perceived value in generative art. On view to the public from Thursday, December 1, to Saturday, December 3.

The live-minting experience, presented in partnership with @fx.hash, enables visitors to mint and claim a featured generative art edition on Tezos in real-time.The installation will feature artworks from emerging generative artists @teaboswell_, @distcollective, and @ivonatau.

The Tezos conversation series, featuring panels co-curated by @SerpentineUK, will be held from Friday, December 2, to Saturday, December 3, highlighting discussions around the NFT movement, blockchain’s utility as a creative canvas, designing generative art algorithms, and more. The conversations will be streamed via the Tezos YouTube channel, linked in bio.

We are excited to announce our participation in the Galerie Data MINER△L exhibition, alongside stellar artists; Olga Fradina, David Seven, and Gaia Azzi🖤

The MINER△L exhibition open a creative dialogue among generative artists exploring the theme of mineral morphogenesis, inspired by the meticulous observation of its structures, textures, patterns, and specific colors.  The exhibition highlights the observation of visual characteristics linked to geological formations in the process of creating generative artworks. Artistic exploration draws inspiration from it, and translates it digitally into the use of software and code, to recreate the transformations and textures observed in nature.

The exhibiton features digital artworks printed, accompanied by an NFT edition. NFT solos are also on sale in objkt collection.

Some close-ups of the finished piece. The texture on this one turned out particularly well: the shifts in ink density as the pen moves through the composition made it more interesting than the full view alone.

This is the tension at the core of pen plotter work: you write the algorithm but the drawing still surprises you. The density, the weight of the ink on paper, the tiny mechanical tremors and shifts in the machine, none of that truly exists in the code. The mechanical imperfections become part of the final result.

Quantized noise study plotted with an AxiDraw.

This piece was generated by applying quantized noise to a field of parallel lines. Instead of smooth continuous deformation, the algorithm forces the displacement into discrete stepped changes, creating abrupt shifts, compressed regions and layered intersections throughout the composition.

On the pen plotter, these transitions produce dense areas of ink buildup, moire like patterns and subtle imperfections from the physical movement of the machine. The closer views reveal how repeated line structures interact with paper texture, plotting precision and accumulated ink to create depth that doesn’t fully exist in the digital version.
