Throwback to June 2026 - Sedjarum’s very first music studio experience.

Sedjarum would beat the hell out of everything, he often asks for chopsticks (or ANYTHING) to use as drumsticks. We have electric drums at home but obviously it doesn’t feel the same as the acoustic one. So @binar.sunarja and i decided to take him to a music studio near our house. We jammed a song or two and let Sedjarum finish the rest, doing anything he wanted (i can’t teach him bc i can’t play drums lol), and sort of turning the studio into his personal playground. by @dittymisslizzy

I’ve always loved Claude Monet. There’s something in his paintings that i find…somewhat peaceful. Truly hits me in the gut. It moves me that my younger self always wanted to have one of Monet’s prints covering an entire wall in front of my bed, thinking i would live to see what Monet had always seen.

So can you imagine my excitement seeing the real paintings of Monet’s? Just a few inches away right in front of my eyes. I’m not exaggerating when i say this is a dream come true. Thank you @binar.sunarja for <<<always>>> making my dreams come true. Istg this is the best birthday present and surprise ever. Nothing can ever top this. Sometimes i think i don’t deserve you 🥹❤️

I could look at his paintings for hours i don’t care, i was completely immersed, especially with Claude Debussy playing in my ears. I always think Debussy’s music is what Monet’s paintings sound like. My two favourite Claudes. A perfect match. Especially with this Rêverie, L. 68. taken in National Gallery Singapore by @dittymisslizzy

We were just a few meters away from the very top of Gunung Gede. The path was narrow and i walked on the higher trail. I could feel the oxygen become thin because i could barely breathe. The wind was strong up there but i pushed myself and tried to keep going as best as i could.

Bapak was the only person who saw me and noticed that i was about to faint. Being the good caretaker that he was (he was also the sweeper), Bapak immediately told me to move to a different path. “Mbak Ditty, kamu jalannya di jalur yang ini aja. Jangan di situ.” He told me casually. I moved to the middle trail, which was shielded on the side by the higher path so i couldn’t feel the heavy blowing winds. I began to be able to breathe normally again.

I swear everything was ok when he was around.

It was June 2012. Bapak was 55 then. He died at 64. And today he should have been 68.

Now that you’re gone, i sometimes still feel lost and still need your guidance to tell me where i should be heading, Pak.

It’s a 3-minutes-long guitar solo, of course i:
1. Would miss some notes
2. Was off tempo here and there
3. Couldn’t even finish the solo part to the end
4. Pretty much just messed up

But i can’t say i’d play better with shorter duration either hahahahahaaa

Having Sedjarum truly brought my feelings to some level that i’ve never felt before, that i never thought it existed. I was even surprised at myself like oh, so a human being is able to love THIS much? And i can’t bear the idea that someday you’ll grow up and stop sleeping by my side. But i must, as today is your birthday marks how much you’ve grown.

Sedjarum, here’s a song made by bapak and ibu for your birthday present. Probably a ritual that we’re gonna do for the rest or our lives.
