A true love and respect for women is what makes us who we are as a band. Everything we do strives to show that women very much can and do have an impact on the local music scene.

Most things we enjoy in music, art, and life itself have been inspired by women - by each other. Women are incredible people. Engage with them, spend time with them, listen to their music, read their books, buy their art, embrace their friendship. It’s worth it.

ㅤꨄ︎ We’ve tagged a bunch of bands and female musicians that inspire us on this post though we’ve barely scratched the surface. If you can think of any more tag them in the comments. ㅤꨄ︎

Yes, people have expectations and criticisms and there’s always someone who’s going to disagree with the message you’re trying to send or condescend and downplay your achievements. But as we grow and learn never mind as a band but as human beings, we start to notice that none of that really matters. As long as you are having fun, creating art, and making friends for life then life simply cannot get any better.

Never underestimate yourself. Do not change for anyone, especially a man. Never give in to expectations set by others. Be your own muse. You are so much fucking stronger than you think.

Happy international women’s day - to ALL women.

As promised.

DIVA DOWN – Twilight, recorded live at The Variety Bar for LOCKED IN with @divadownband

This is the first track from the session, with more coming through the week before the full set lands on Saturday at 12.

Twilight is a much more melancholic side of the band, soft, spacious and beautifully restrained. It’s got a late-night feel to it that boss lady Gayle loves!

Give it a watch, give it a share, and if you know someone who’d be brilliant for a LOCKED IN session, tag them below.

And if you’re an artist who fancies coming in to play one yourself, drop us a message.

Big shout out to the wonderful @scottflngn for bringing all of the audio goodness you’re away to hear. 🙏

We’ve been working on something new at The Variety Bar.

LOCKED IN is our new live music session series, filmed right here in the bar, and the first two are ready to go.

We’re kicking things off with DIVA DOWN playing Twilight and Katie Nicoll with I Just Miss My Dog.

Both tracks are going online first, with a few more from each session dropping through the week, before the full sessions go live Saturday at 12 noon.

And this is just the start. Every Sunday we’ll be filming more LOCKED IN sessions, so if you’re a singer, band or performing artist and fancy coming in to do one, get in touch with us.

If you like what we’re doing, give the tracks a like, share them about and tag someone you think should come in and play.

Buzzing to finally get these out there.
