JULI SANDO
@sando.juli_
Juli Sando (*1993, JP/CH) is a filmmaker and artist. They are as much active in performance, installation, sound experimentation as in filmmaking between documentary and fiction. Their work blends poetry and politics, questioning language, identity and society. Their practice is characterised by an attention to overlooked moments and phenomena of disappearance, and seeks to outline possibilities for resistance within the diversity of identities. Their latest film, Fuku Nashi, which has won four awards, takes an intimate look at the issue of racial mixing, the weight of origins in relation to family and one’s own identity. In their installations, they work with the material of video and sound, sometimes in an immersive way, often alongside sculptures in wax or thermal paper, ranging from small to large format. Taking into account the environment in which they create and exhibit is also an important element of their work.

YVAN ALVAREZ
@yvanalvarez
In his work, Yvan Alvarez (*1990, ES/CH) gives form, through photography, sculpture, and installation, to phenomena observed in everyday life. His practice focuses on the ways we interact with the physical and material spaces that surround us, and on the symbolic potential that can emerge from ordinary situations. Gestures, actions, and situations at a human scale often form the starting point of his projects. He later replays or reconstructs them within the exhibition space, introducing small shifts that reveal their underlying structures. Developed through a deliberate economy of means and an approach rooted in DIY culture, his work pays particular attention to fragile, temporary, and improvised forms. Through the traces left by these gestures, he explores how seemingly insignificant situations from everyday life can reveal something about the ways we attempt to inhabit and negotiate the world.

“until the title becomes clear
until the next reason to be
until the message is sent
until the store is closed
until the next event
until the bus arrives
until time goes by
until the rent is paid
until we wake
until progress
until the break
until the end
until the start
until things make sense
until the tasks are done
until the next question
until we belong

For “FestaRita 2026”, several spaces were invited to propose artists working with textiles. DivergenX proposed Nina Rieben’s work, with the piece “until the title becomes clear”, created for the occasion. The piece, a kind of delicate, handmade blind hung indoors between two windows, protects neither from the rain nor from the sun. Its title is conceived as a poem. A reflection on the temporality of certain tasks or goals, until their completion—or not.

JEANNE TARA
@jeannetara
Jeanne Tara (*1994, FR/CH) is a multidisciplinary artist using sculpture, painting, video, and installation. Through these different media combined, they lead a sensitive reflection nourished by notions of gesture and transmission. Taking as a starting point their subjective experience of the urban environment, they explore architectural manifestations as symbols of power and authority scattered throughout public space, and examine how the network of signs they constitute conditions our experiences and realities, becoming a possible source of division. They probe how hegemonic culture acts, not only through language, but also through forms and aesthetics. In their work, they oppose dominant discourses and subversive narratives, in order to question our cultural and social commonalities.

Nina Rieben (*1992, CH) lives and works in Basel and Bern. Fragments of emotions and stories form the artistic starting points of her practice. Her works unfold as anecdotal narratives of states of being, revolving around everyday, interpersonal, melancholic and searching sensibilities within the context of Western modes of thinking and capitalist realities.

DOES IT RING A BELL?
·
The installation brings six artists together. Its title, “Does It Ring a Bell?“, refers to an English idiom used to describe the moment when a statement evokes a familiar memory. A manifesto is written to introduce and advocate for the project. It is structured into three distinct sections, which are also the key terms at the core of the research: Norm, Space, Care. Ultimately, the project seeks to (partially) address the research question—utopian perhaps, yet essential: is a space where care is the only norm possible?

DOES IT RING A BELL?
·

DOES IT RING A BELL?
·
The DivergenX project is launched with a capsule installation named “Does It Ring a Bell?“ Its title refers to an English idiom used to describe the moment when a statement evokes a familiar memory. The aim is to show works that evoke a clear or suggestive rupture between the artists and a capitalist, patriarchal, ableist, and destructive system. The project addresses norms, labour, neurodivergence, memory, and money, but also care.

Does It Ring A Bell?»

ANJA RIPOLL
@anja.rip
Anja Ripoll (*1995, CH/ES/IT) is a Geneva based artist. Through her sculptural practice, the medium of ceramics is explored to its very limits. In rejecting normative systems, the artist brings forth phantasmagorical worlds, playing with fundamental contrasts. These contrasts question the margins within dominant realities: rebirth before death, the fall preceding ascent, order within chaos—or its inverse. On the smoldering ruins of global phallocratic capitalism, a few resilient insects still roam. Rising among them stand her works—solid, sharp, and burning.
