I’ve read a sentient object romance so you won’t have to.

I will start by saying that surprisingly I really enjoyed reading this book, and if there weren’t a ridiculous number of times I heard the word cock in an hour, I would have rated it 3.5 stars.

The plot is pretty absurd but it’s known that I am not deterred by weirdness!
the heroine’s mother calls her on her 27th birthday and says that anything she puts into her gal down there will turn from an object into a human, why did she choose to tell her only now? Because it turns out that our gal’s dad is a former clock.

Yeppp

She puts in a ruler to measure how much 4.2 inches is yada yada yada, now she has a former ruler with a huge dick that measures everything and is obsessed with her, they can now live happily ever after... except, they don’t.

This is where my favorite part of the book comes in: the existential crisis Gage goes through. This part was profound and made me think deeply about our existence as humans and the reason we were created.

Now for the things I didn’t like in this book:
Straight sex, anatomically nothing there makes sense, I heard the word dick in all its pronunciations too many times, and in my opinion ,the book could have gone a bit deeper into their relationship before the next part in the series.
Which I will of course continue because WTF why is this interesting????

My favorite quotes:
“I brush my teeth with my potential future husband”
“Doing my best to not think about the wine bottle sexually”
“My father the calculator watch”
“If you think that was amazing, wait till you try cake”

Final rating

2.5 stars

Diverse spooky recommendations (horror, thrillers and fantasy) (bipoc and queer representation) (Jewish representation) (indigenous representation)

Also, y’all HAVE to watch “over the garden wall”
(It’s where the clips are from)
It’s the perfect spooky-cozy animated show to watch while it’s raining.
