thank you to everyone who came to yesterday’s opening. I was very happy to show this body of work spanning the last 5 months, reflecting all the changes and explorations I’ve made since the last exhibition. All the smaller works I made in Athens last year really freed me up as a painter. That led me to having the sort of freedom to experiment and push forward ideas of what my painting could be. the larger paintings on display here are reflective of this place I’m in right now. it’s to be here 💚

thanks to james & my earth angels for giving me the space to show my work and to @chqso for her beautiful ceramics.

the show is running for a little bit @earthangelsbar

“ I want to make things that are fun to look at”

Is that okay to say? Could it be that simple? What about one’s search for meaning? I’ve been searching for meaning for a long time before I got here. There is meaning to these of course. A lot of my influences colliding into one thing. Some of them are quite emotional actually. it all felt kind of… effortless. Whatever, they were goddam fun to make, that’s all I can say. don’t forget to make things that you like.

Anyway, I fucked around and found out, and the end result is 55 paintings that are some of the most free and expressive I’ve ever made. these paintings were all about feeling and all about intuition. as a painter that’s all you really have at the end of the day. trusting your gut. everything else comes and goes. a few of you asked me what it all meant but the rest of you just shared with me how it made you feel. And right now, that’s more important.

if you believe that paintings carry energy like I do , the energy in this space , especially on opening night, felt warm
And inviting and alive. felt special to be serving our baby @playgroundwine to everyone. I couldn’t really ask for more than that. and the floral arrangements by @_belle__owen_ & @yungflorals did more than tie the room together. they centered everything around them in a real tangible way. plus they look beautiful. obviously.

thank you to everyone who has come to see the show and enjoyed the space. it’s running for another two weeks or so. have a wine and take a walk upstairs. Of course I couldn’t do it without my earth angels @earthangelsbar and their endless support, esp James and @yeahgoodstuff for their invaluable curation and assistance ❤️ by @divinations

recent paintings from BKK 🇹🇭
—

working from my studio here in Bangkok, I’ve been able to get back into my painting practice with a new energy after a strange and sometimes difficult year. it’s been really good for me getting back into the studio. after a brief hiatus from the beloved floral arrangements of 2024-2025, I discovered some new ways to go about it all. I feel this new work is as fresh as I’ve ever been and I can’t wait to share more with you all ✨✨✨

I’d also like to thank the Ian Potter Cultural Trust for their support this year in my development as an artist. ironically the moment I let go of any opportunity coming my way was the moment they came. being here has allowed some exciting things to happen and I look forward to presenting my first solo exhibition in Thailand next year 🙏 by @divinations

after a brief intermission, where nothing was working out in the studio, it’s nice for the work to return. sometimes when all options have been exhausted, you are finally free to start again.
