one year.
it's felt like an eternity while still remembering your last breath like it was mere moments ago. the words "i miss you" will always be inadequate. it doesn't capture the immense grief in loving you and losing you. you were by my side through so many transitional stages & you silenced every uncertainty by comforting me in every way only you knew how. i'm still learning to navigate a world without you while your sisters drive me crazy. i miss your quirky energy, your chaos, your wet sandpaper kisses, and even your judgy attitude.
my soul cat, my first born, my pocket full of sunshine.

🧡 HAPPY LATINE HERITAGE MONTH! ❤️
here's a book rec that is expected for release on October 6th!

"Hear the Dead" by @anndavilacardinal is a slow burn thriller of a 66 yo FMC who once photographed tons of musicians in her youth. Elena Altieri, aka "Lens", used to follow her musician bestie, Sin, around the New York City punk rock scene to fulfill their dreams of making it big together. but Elena abruptly leaves it all behind and can't remember why. following the hours of her departure, her bestfriend is gone... an alleged overd*se. now, decades later, Elena is thrust out of her quiet life and onto the spotlight when one of the musicians she photographed passes away. but it all takes a turn when she starts hearing more than just the music of the past.

from the great world-building and an FMC who battles her own insecurities & anxieties but refuses to be knocked down, this was an amazing read! Elena is a real GIRL'S GIRL & a bad ass. i loved that, regardless of age, she's given room to learn, grow, and evolve without compromising who she is to her core. with a minor romantic subplot i wish ended differently... i still enjoyed Elena's journey & a little sad when it ended. if i could pull out a fictional character into real life to be a bestfriend, it would definitely be Lens.

highly recommend looking out for this release! 💛

here’s my review of The Way We Become by Amber Smith, the final book in The Way I Used to Be series for those looking forward to this release on October 6th.
and yes, i rated it 5 STARS!

the mental, physical, and emotional turmoil Eden, Amanda, and Gen go through is absolutely heartbreaking. they’re all trying to find new ways to feel safe after everything that has happened to them. while the first and second book dove into Eden’s trauma, this one allows Amanda and Gen to tell their stories. i cried for them, got angry for them. you also get to know how the people in their lives are dealing (or not dealing) with the aftermath.

i will say that this book is heavy. Amanda and Gen are not okay, understandably so. so if you are mentally struggling or just not in a good place, i’d say hold off or avoid reading it. your mental health is more important than any book! but man, it’s so emotionally moving. the author handled these characters with love, care, and grace. it’s real and raw, showing different insights on how survivors simply try to survive.

do the girls get justice? yes and no.
and if i can bltchslap every politician and judge with this book & show them why it's important to change the system’s handling of SA & grape cases, i absolutely fcking would!!! 😤

✨OUT NOW!✨ this is a newly published YA romance book with fantasy elements by @brianna_bourne_writes. it's cute & swoony, with a touch of suspense & lots of emotions. great read for a little summer romance. if you have a teen in your life who also loves to read, this is definitely something you could read together. check it out ASAP! & let me know how you enjoyed it.

got this idea after seeing others post it in our FB group (Bookish Aura - 🔗 in b!o), so i decided i wanted to try. funny thing is, i blanked so bad at the movies part. i decided to ask my siblings & ended up with both of them saying "Titanic". 😒 yes, the movie is a masterpiece. but a favorite!? maybe in the top 20. lol. i meant to put Forrest Gump in there, but my brother insisted it was *his* favorite. 🙄 anyhoo, here's my take! come join Bookish Aura and share yours! we loooove seeing these. 🫶🏽

RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2026.

i LOVE Victoria. the way she isn't afraid to talk back and her refusal to back down from a challenge bcuz she knows what she's capable of. she KNOWS she's dangerous, but she also knows she needs help. Azrael is wound so tight and his arrogance is what keeps him from seeing things clearly. how far is he going to push Victoria? at what point will he go too far and do more harm than good?

i felt every emotion under the sun reading this. & yes, i cried. i also nearly threw my Kindle out the window of a moving car. 😂 @authorevamorozova i'm gonna need the next book like YESTERDAY! 😩 thank you for giving me my own obsession. you also had me screaming like a banshee at the end. 💀 & a big thank you to @flyingpigpr for the opportunity to read this ARC! 🫶🏽

in the end of this book, i was left empathizing & respecting a character from a favorite childhood story whom i used to hate. yes, i know it's a retelling... but this holds up that saying, "there's two sides to every story." even then, this is the kind of story worth reading. it has the complexities of survival, motherhood, perseverance, grief, and family. also, the fact that Ethel had a pet falcon made her a baddie in my eyes. bcuz WHAT DO YOU MEAAAAN A FALCON!?!? but again, this is an absolute must read & one i highly recommend.
