Happy Women Physicians Day to all the incredible women docs who are out there making a difference in the lives of others and breaking barriers to make things a little easier for future generations. 🩺

This first photo is of my late great aunt, Anam Sudarsanam, who has been an inspiration to me since I was a young child, inspired me to become a physician, and continues to inspire me to this day. She was a trailblazer who went to medical school in India at a time when few women went to high school. She trained around the world, practiced academic medicine in the U.S., published her research and provided excellent care. Not only was she a formidable woman in the workplace, but as a person she was profoundly warm, selfless, generous, larger than life, fearless and demonstrated incredible fortitude. She was also my favorite foodie companion - and my favorite companion in general - when I was a kid. ☺️

The second photo is of me doing my very first procedure when I was a G.I. fellow. I loved what I do then and I love it even more now. 👩🏽‍⚕️

With @preethipir who just got back from providing incredible volunteer medical aid at the Poland/Ukraine border through @ssfsauveteurs. @ssfsauveteurs has been doing lifesaving work on the ground but needs additional medical supplies. RIP Dom DeMarco, my favorite pizzaiolo of all time. Your method and love for the art of pizza making were unparalleled. Not to mention your pizzas were inarguably the best around. I fondly remember this particular visit to Di Fara back when you still made every single pizza yourself, with such patience and attention to detail. @pallaviyetur and I got a pizza for each of us and I have never been as happy to overorder in my life. I was learning how to make pizza at the time and watched you intently through every step, took thorough notes, and even have a video of you making a pizza from beginning to end.
