Years ago, one of the earliest films we worked on was a documentary about sleep deprivation. Ironically, Isaiah would stay up deep into the night editing while Divya would wake early to plan the next steps before school. Maybe it was this dichotomy that led to such a fruitful creative partnership. On that same project, Isaiah’s laptop overheated, so we did what any fifteen year olds would do: put it in the freezer (somehow, this worked).

Since then, we’ve gotten new laptops and collaborated on dozens of projects across time zones and locations (Saratoga, Boston, New York, London, Phuket…you get the picture) — and now, we’ve landed in Los Angeles. It’s only fitting that we’d decide to start a production company together, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all.

Boxer & Baker was founded on our shared ideals; we aim to highlight heartfelt and unconventional stories that feature or are made by traditionally underrepresented voices. We’ve observed that the film industry is full of barriers to entry, and hope that Boxer & Baker opens doors to the kinds of projects we believe should be made.

We look forward to building a space to help amplify the many voices that we know have the power to inspire, and to be the freezer for overheating computers. Keep your eyes peeled this week — we’ll be announcing the details of our first project!

With love,
Isaiah & Divya
