Sept 23, 2023…Shawny wasn’t offered, but somehow we ended up on a visit to Pitt to watch the Panthers take on UNC. It was a rainy night, Larry Fitzgerald was there, and I remember Shawny eagerly asking players for their gloves after the game. He was just a kid, taking it all in and imagining the possibilities.

Fast forward three years, and now HE’S suiting up in that Pitt uniform to take on the UNC Tar Heels. And it struck me that somewhere in the stands…there’s an eager kiddo hoping to walk away with HIS gloves.

From looking up to the guys on the field to becoming one of them. From collecting memories to possibly being a part of someone else’s. Some moments hit a little differently when you look back on the journey.🥹

Definitely a full circle, full heart moment for moi.

I’m so thankful for the privilege of being your mom,Shawny-Wany!

Watching you grow into the young man you are today has been such a blessing.

Just know that no matter how old you get, you’ll always be my little boy and I’ll always be your biggest supporter, your most faithful encourager, and your strongest prayer warrior. I pray that you continue to seek God first, walk in integrity, and use every platform you’ve been given to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

I love you more than you’ll ever know. Happy 20th Birthday, son. by @dixilee24

Yesterday was special.

For the first official AUDIBLE Foundation event, Shawny and fellow college athlete Adryce Arp spent the afternoon with the 3rd and 4th graders at Ben Franklin Elementary School in Harrisburg.

The Huddle is about encouraging kids and showing them that the same things that help you succeed in sports, like respect, attitude, effort, teamwork, and consistency, also help you succeed in school and life.

And most importantly: Everybody makes mistakes/bad decisions and everybody has setbacks. What matters is the NEXT PLAY…how we respond, grow, and bounce back.

After the conversation, they signed EVERY autograph requested and then headed outside to play football with every student who wanted to join.

The only things they wouldn’t sign? The kids’ clothing… because they didn’t want any smoke from their parents. 😅

You may not be able to see every smile in the photos, but trust us… they were everywhere.

This is what AUDIBLE is about.

Rawlins: Shoes, sir.
Shaw: I beg your pardon?
Rawlins: The men need shoes, Colonel.
Shaw: Yes, I've been after the quartermaster for some time.
Rawlins: No, sir. Now. The boy (Pvt. Trip) ran off to find him some shoes, Colonel. He wants to fight. Same as the rest of us. More, even. ~(Sgt. Maj. Rawlings & Colonel Shaw following Pvt. Trip’s flogging) Glory; 1989
