Illinois 2A State Champions 2025!

The Dukes complete a perfect season that took a lot of effort to keep together in the short 12 weeks of a season! But this was many seasons in the making, from having only 4 guys on roster in 2021, to not making sectionals in 2022, to just being happy in qualifying in 2023, and then missing a trophy by 1 point in 2024. Every season, and every runner, had a purpose in getting to this glorious moment. The Dixon Dukes are very aggressive as a people, and so it is fitting that winning a state title was done with an aggressive race strategy - win the 1st mile, win the 2nd mile, and be champions at the finish. We still have more life in the season, but there is peace in the last week in the knowledge that it was real, not just “potential”. This is the 2nd state title in Dukes XC history, catapulting the program into a prestigious class in the brief 2A history of winning multiple titles. We are the one of the smallest & poorest, yet hardest working programs of the last 15 years; we look forward to defending this title for years to come. by @dixonxctf

Winning the state title was the goal. But for Simon Thorpe, actually getting there brought a different question: was the outcome really the part that mattered most?

In this conversation, Simon talks about what changed after Dixon reached the top, why the process may mean more than the trophy, and how success can change the way you look at the work that got you there.

🎙️ Full conversation with Simon Thorpe on Ándale Run.

NIL ELITE XC Camp - Dixon/Bago/RC Week:

You know XC season is right around the corner when XC camp is over for the year. After an excellent first week, the teams of Dixon, Winnebago and Rockford gathered as a community, for the third year, for our second week at Camp Green Lake. This has been a vital component for each teams success over the last few years, which culminated 2025 XC in Dixon and Bago winning the 1A and 2A state titles and RC earning a trophy in 3rd. These are truly “elite” teams, and they’ve built it together.

We’ll see everyone next June, but most importantly, during XC season! by @dixonxctf
