🎉Nottingham Central Library is excited to welcome back @nottszinefest for a full building takeover on Saturday 24th October, 10am to 3.30pm!

📒Here are some pictures of last year, it was a day to be remembered and this year is not to be missed!

‘Creating a brave new future, where we are as plugged into nature as we are technology’

Great to look back at OFFLINE, our project with @thenatforest - which was some years ago now. Our first introduction to risograph printing with @dizzy.ink too - which got us hooked!

OFFLINE resulted in the creation of a collection of 16 posters gifted to communities across the National Forest. Each artwork highlighting a species with a technology interpretive description…

Denge Sound Mirror Riso Prints:

Last night I did a Riso printing workshop at @dizzy.ink, which was fantastic. I chose to work with a photograph I made last month of one of the sound mirrors at Denge, near Dungeness. This is printed on a black, and a white paper using special metallic ink that @dizzy.ink mix themselves. I just love the grainy, inky texture that is so characteristic of the Riso process, and the workshop has given me lots of ideas I can’t wait to try. I think I’m going to do some more of the sound mirrors first, and possibly offer them as poster prints and/or as a zine on my shop page. Thanks so much to @craig_proud and @ibs.graphics for all the help! I thoroughly recommend the workshop. by @dizzy.ink

Last year was SUPER busy, and we had such an incredible day - we’re really hoping this year will be just as brilliant! 🥰

As always, we really wish we could accept everyone who wants to take part, but unfortunately we do have limited spaces. 💔

My first semi serious book project I made! Featuring all my own photography. Fred & myself went skating in China for a month, met some people, took photos!

Technically the second version of this as the first was so covered in blood from the decked cotton Fabriano paper I had to make it again! 😭

Riso printing content only ☺️ Recent scenes from @dizzy.ink studio! Thanks to Craig for letting me hog the Riso. I’m addicted and I won’t stop. Sorry @proudmurals you’ve been missing out but we’ll be printing together soon.

Riso printing is my new favourite thing and I’m going to need you to buy some prints otherwise I have developed an expensive hobby haha. It’s so magical to work with and I have made lots of new mini prints and refreshed some other designs with a Riso spin. I’ve taken photos so I just need to upload and sort. They’ll be online shortly and on wholesale too.

For some time now I was curious about designing for both: knitting and square tile mosaics (also my son plays Minecraft) and how those could build creative communities and public spaces and contribute to wellbeing. I thought I’d flex that interest when George @georgejpeck asked me to design a print for his pop up coffee event @doyouneedacoffee

🌳 Using a medieval recipe to make homemade ink from oak trees in Sherwood Forrest!

Crafting ink from scratch is a magical experience that I reccomend every artist does at some point in their career! Also screen printing a piece of work into a series prints FEELS so damn good.

You will need:
Handful of oak galls
Water
Iron
White Vinegar
Gum Arabic

I’ve always tried to do something experimental, fresh or recent obsession - this year no different! Publishing a zine completely off-grid!!!

⚡️

I’ve dreamt of being able to do this for several years now and proud to say all the ducks were lined up perfectly in Market Square! We set up a temporary print studio, had over 100+ people give us illustrations/poems and published it there an then into a collective zine.

This is cool but we took it a step forward and only used the power of the sun, Risograph and coffee cup recycled paper! 🌱 totally off-grid zine production!!!
