Our Musical Director joined @dj_devolicious and Stuart from Broken Chords, alongside Hayley Kay, at @bbclancashire to talk about the Good Grief Festival, happening across Blackpool over the next two weeks.

Electric Pink Voices feel incredibly privileged to be singing following Haley’s interview with Basil Newby, reflecting on love and loss through his career, including the era of the AIDS epidemic.

For our choir, this is a powerful and historic moment in Blackpool, connecting music, memory, love, loss and the stories of LGBTQ+ people and our community.

We’ll be singing Daddy’s Eyes, beautifully arranged for us by @jamsheedmaster.music . We’re so grateful to him for arranging this piece and helping us bring this song into the story.

It’s going to be an extraordinary and deeply moving moment for EPV.

As creative roles go, this is one of the most unusual ones I've had yet. Over the next few weeks, I'll be facilitating workshops with three community groups, engaging participants in dialogue, sharing stories and gathering the songs that see folks through the challenges of grief. These will inform a DJ set I'll serve up at the celebratory closing event on 11th October at Bootleg Social Club. It's a privilege to hold space for people to explore the themes of grief and music as a tool to heal, process, honour and uplift and all in between.

A live performance workshop for improver instrumentalists, vocalist and the DJ controller as an instrument, dancers and spoken word artists from any genre to come together to create live improvised pieces.

Led by local multi-instrumentalist, improviser and songwriter Lucy Ray @lucy828781 and DJ Devolicious @dj_devolicious , a workshop will be followed by a performance to a small live audience. Anything can happen and the possibilities are endless!

MURKAGE DAVE // Blackpool Central Library // 26.07.2026

This was a gig for the books; artists, audience and our young gig crew all came together for a JOYOUS afternoon at Blackpool Central Library with @murkagedave and @dj_devolicious . It was more than music, it was a celebration of what libraries can do; culture, community, creativity colliding to make magic under one book lined roof📚🫶🎸

We include Dave’s moving words on the day below because honestly we couldn’t put it better!

“I forgot how important the library was to me when I was growing up; it was a safe space where I could go, I could get away from school, I could get away from home. You could take out any books and you could max out your card and I could just read and go into my own world. I think that’s where actually a lot of this thing that I have with language started, Cathall Estate library. A friend of mine said performing popular music in a library is radical political act; I’d never thought about it, now its really clicking with me, because literacy is the way of the people being able to move forward; we’ve got these places that are free in every community and we can go here and we can do stuff, even in modern day, the libraries have saved me in the heatwave, I just want to say thank you to Get It Loud in Libraries for putting these events on, for keeping libraries relevant because we need them and there’s people that make the most of it, journeys begin, your path to wherever you’re going can start from literacy in your community.”

Thank you Blackpool for one seriously special Sunday 🌱✨
