Over the last 3 weeks, I have been overseeing these sessions in Namuwongo slum on behalf of @imaginationcircle .
We provided 9 successful sessions (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays). Through volunteer instructors like myself, my former breakdance student- @shakurslum256 who resides in that slum, @dj_e_sir , @tinytrix and a female breakdancer (Bgirl) - @bgirl_mirembe ; have taught structured classes that grow breakdance & creative skills, and important soft skills such us speaking, exercising thankfulness, sharing & teaching others, discipline, setting goals, being consistent, commitment and more.

Further, we have;
- Reach and engage 30 new young people in the program. And retained 40 of those who were with us last month of January.
- Engaged 27 new girls to the program.
- Started basic renovation of the space.
- Brought in upto 3 passionate and experienced artist educators & creative facilitators to deliver activities as volunteers.

This month we are preparing the students for a community show next month during which they’ll be exhibiting to the wide community skills they have learned, strengths & abilities they have developed and ways they have grown.
Also this is going to be 1 year since we launched this project in April of 2025.

Interested to sponsor, donate or be involved in some way? DM.

Can’t stop won’t stop bringing hiphop to Namuwongo slums.
We are seeing growing and consistent positive changes among young ones. The feedback from parents, community leaders, passersby, young people themselves and Namuwongo residents is encouraging.
Today Shakur (our resident instructor), @iamkaweesimark and @dj_e_sir facilitated the session.

We are on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.
Would you like to support our programs through donations?. DM.
