Creativity inspires creativity

At one of our recent gigs, I met the artist Keith, who was drawing as we played. I love how art inspires art and brings us together.

There is ALWAYS a reason to make space for creativity in our lives.

On my journey to my gig at the yoga retreat camp (one really cannot non-enjoy this work!), I dared (!!!) to listen to my album Love's Company after a loooong, long while.

And to my surprise, I genuinely enjoyed it! :)))

An artist's relationship with their own songs can be so tricky—intense, hot and cold, moving from too many expectations to a desire to just cut ties. But time helps. Going back to them and feeling good about what I hear makes every single moment so worth it.

If you'd like to order Love's Company, I still have some vinyls and CDs ready to post, or you can download the album digitally.

It's Bandcamp Friday today, meaning all proceeds go directly to the artists.

Thank you, @shambalafest! We packed the tent until no space left, made people dance, cry and hug. That's why we do this 🕊️ Save the date: Nov 19 for a next special performance! 💫

People squeezed and spilling out the sides, by the end the whole tent was dancing and everyone was on their feet clapping. What a feeling.

Then something happened we didn't expect - after we finished, a man from the audience walked up, took the mic, and spoke for a long time about how deeply the music had moved him.

This is why we do this. Musicians from across borders, making music together and hoping together for a shared, just and peaceful future.

Thank you Shambala, and thank you to every single person in that tent. It was an honour and a real joy 💛

📅 Save the date: Thursday 19 Nov, EFG London Jazz Festival.
Very special guests, to be revealed soon 👀

Thank you @jamie.reibl for playing and filming these beautiful clips! 📸🎷

We loved making #shambalafestival dance with some Kurdish folk songs!
Thank you everyone such an amazing audience.
This song, Es Kevoke (/ kevokim), is about the dove 🕊️ wanting to fly to its beloved, be accepted and seen by, and longing for the union and belonging 🤍

Date for your diary! ✊🏽

On 14 January, we’ll be celebrating the music of Barış Manço and his bands, a couple of weeks before the 28th anniversary of his passing.

North London’s talented musician @djananturan and the all-star Flying Karpet will take you above the clouds with a night of Barış Manço classics and beyond.

@anatolian_grooves be spinning rare Anatolian deep cuts on vinyl, from the ’60s to contemporary sounds, paying tribute to one of Anatolia’s most prolific and influential musicians in style.

Don’t miss it.💥 taken in The Jazz Cafe by @djananturan

The one and only SKP 🔥
DNA Cafe Bar, Dalston ( 5 mins walk from the station), 8PM

SKP brings Anatolian sounds into a wild mix of grunge, blues, rock, arabesque, rebetiko & folk.

Expect cümbüş(a mix of banjo & oud), fretless guitar, çağlama(guitar strings on saz body), divane ( saz body with lute sound) and plenty of fuzz, groove and psych energy.💥

From Istanbul Jazz Festival and Sziget, SKP has been taking his hybrid Anatolian sound across Europe.

Don’t miss it. Come early, get a drink, and get ready for something different.✊🏼

A moment from Wednesday night at The Jamboree. Thank you to everyone who was there with us. Berdin, Tansay, Jomy, and Taha — I feel like we rocked the stage :))))

Thank you, dear sister Dila, for your vibe-creating, gig-making, soul-shaking organisational superpowers and your fairy-like voice.

Thank you, Berko, for your guest appearance on the violin.

Thank you, Barış Manço, once again, for these songs we never get tired of singing.

I got on stage pretty ill that night, but here you go — a remedy, an immune booster: two sets of deeply heartfelt songs, lots and lots of human voices, a place to gather… and off you go. by @djananturan

We DID south of the river today and it was ace! Thank you very much the lovely Shri and Shirin of @drumthebass23 for inviting us. What a lovely festival, beautiful bands and seeing people dancing on the streets is always such an energy booster.
