First and foremost, I will say this every time. I am truly honored to be part of Team No Luck. Travis and Jess pour their hearts into this sport and the people who care to participate in it. This was a bittersweet meet for me. Technically, I have nothing to complain about. I did good, but it wasn’t what I wanted. It was exactly what I needed.

I went in with a set of expectations that wasn’t unreasonable, 1400 at 181. That is what I was so focused on. Easily did this in training even with the massive cut. Prepped perfectly, have tracked every food I’ve eaten, step I’ve taken, hour I’ve slept, and supplement I’ve taken to a tee the past 4 months. Hit everything in prep with relative ease. Even as I type that, you might sense some resentment. You’d be correct to guess I was a little upset. But even with that I’m missing the point.

Team No Luck is a family that goes up to bat for you. I got some calls from the judges on my first and second squat that I wasn’t particularly pleased with and honestly just confused with. I have never had anybody stand up for me and support my like my team did today. If I was pouting, mad or felt like this was owed to me I would’ve missed the point of it all. I would’ve missed the love, the support, the laughs, the tears and most importantly the camaraderie.

I love my team and I love this sport. I love what it’s torn me down to and I love how it’s built me up.

The lifts that mattered:
S - 195kg/429.9lbs
B - 142.5kg/314.2lbs
D - 255kg/562.2lbs

1306.3 at 176lbs. First place in my division/weight class.

To my brothers Kevin and Brad congratulations on your accomplishments today. I love the laughs we shared and the memories we made. Too many emotions to convey and too many brain cells lost from passing out twice yesterday 😂

Thank you for putting on a great meet, Bobby! Thank you to all the spotters who kept everyone safe and alive.

Taking a break after this for a short time to get stage ready. This sport has my heart in a death grip and I will be back soon. @timothy__weaver you better be so ready, we’ve got work to do.

No Luck Needed 6

Grateful, humbled, and blessed to have lifted yesterday.

I can’t quite fully gather the words to describe the joy it was to take place in this meet yesterday. Thankful for @thebearcave_md for hosting @national_powerlifting_league and getting to meet all the great people I did yesterday. The love I have for this sport and to those who show up for it is like no other.

Ended up with my best meet total to date:

3/3 Squat 217.5kg/479.5lbs
2/3 Bench 152.5kg/336.2lbs
(160kg/352.74lbs fail 2 reds for up/down)
3/3 Dead 267.5kg/589.74lbs

1405lb total at 209lb bw

Proud of @_robjadick_pl for getting 1st in weight/division and being able to stand next to him in 2nd.

Much love, respect, and gratefulness for @grumpybearrogers for his coaching and kind words always. I will break my one social media rule and show us crying (me ugly crying - last pic) as I was beyond humbled to receive his coaching/unofficial meet director award at the very end. This sport means so much to me and I love watching and helping others discover the same passion, life change, and continued development. Thankful for all who texted and supported and congratulations to everyone who showed up and did the hard work. No Luck Needed, all things worked for 🖤

Last shoutout to my family at @theyourlifegym who supported and encouraged me through this prep. taken in The Bear Cave MD by @djbarbell

2nd meet of 2024. I am nothing but grateful. Thank you to so many people, family and friends who have poured encouragement into my life and challenged me to be better everyday.

A specific thank you to my coach @papabearrogers who has been teaching me to clean up my form and help me get a ton stronger.

Meet results 8/9:
420 Squat
440 Squat
455 Squat

310 Bench
330 Bench
340 Bench (5lb PR)

540 Dead
570 Dead (20lb PR)
585 ❌ attempt

Totaled 1365 at 213 bodyweight. Placed 1st in division. I gave it all I had for this meet, and learned I still have some in the tank for squat and bench. I am more than thankful for how this turned out and ready for next meet’s prep.

We see plenty of coaches posting clients getting shredded and yeah, those transformations look sick. But what about packing slabs of muscle onto someone?

Just over two months between these pictures, and @djbarbell is killing it. He treats his growth phase with more discipline than most people bring to prep, and it shows.

Going to be fun watching him keep growing as we build toward his first bodybuilding show in 2027. by @djbarbell

A year ago I pulled my first 585. I said in a post that I’d have 600 in my 27th year.

605
625

Don’t break the promises you make to yourself. You’ll wake up the next day a lot fucking happier if you just do what you say you’re going to.

Huge milestone as I’ve wanted over a 600 deadlift for 2 years now. I could stand to clean it up more, but I’ll take it after not touching over 500 in 3 months.

@grumpybearrogers it finally happened. @timothy__weaver thanks for letting me have my day of fun/pain. Seeing everyone lift at the 1000lb club challenge got me all excited last Friday. I had to get it out of my system 🖤 by @djbarbell

9 days, we keep building

DE Squats and Bench. Everyday in this prep has felt monumental in what I’ve learned and what I’ve been able to lift. I am grateful to be able to learn proper fueling, recovery, and intensity management unlike in the past. I have a bad habit of too much intensity and lack of control. It’s crazy what this sport will reveal not only in the gym, but in all aspects of life. The discipline that it’s taken to drop 2 weight classes and still be moving the same weight as 6 months ago has, for the better, forced its way into the rest of my time spent outside training.

Like always, grateful for my No Luck Needed crew putting in the same work everyday, @grumpybearrogers , and my family @theyourlifegym by @djbarbell

470 at 182. My favorite thing about this prep has been PRs at lower bodyweight. 2ish weeks out, plan is coming along nicely.

@brycemyers9 thank you for the spot.
