We made clothes. And somehow, they became a reason for people to find one another.

We introduced Brooks & Waithe to the world, and along the way, the clothes became an invitation. To gather. To stay awhile. To leave with something you could wear, some new ink on your skin, or simply the memory of being in a room that felt worth staying in.

#RyanCoogler of @proximitymedia gifted the community free tattoos all night from @tattoopopups. @iamcheftashia kept everybody fed. @drinkgemblends made sure the non-alcoholic drinks were flowing. @djohla + @djbellafoxx gave us the soundtrack, while @queerauntiesla continued building alongside us in community.

And behind every room like this is a team doing the work: @brooklynn_fields, @marquisphifer, @i_amrich. Thank you for carrying the vision all the way through.

What @dvmnpigeon and I imagined together became hours of people eating, dancing, shopping, getting tattooed, and making the space their own. The clothes sold out, but the feeling in the room is what stayed with me.

What @dvmnpigeon and I imagined as a clothing line, @BrooksandWaithe, became something you could walk into. People came through to shop, eat, dance, get tattooed, reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and make a day of being together. The clothes brought us into the room. Community gave the room its meaning.

#RyanCoogler of @proximitymedia gifted tattoos from @tattoopopups to the community all night. @iamcheftashia fed the room. @drinkgemblends kept the non-alcoholic drinks flowing. @djohla and @djbellafoxx gave the night its soundtrack, while @queerauntiesla continued building alongside us in community.

We made the clothes. Los Angeles made the memory.

Some things you launch. Other things take on a life of their own. Sunday, @brooksandwaithe did exactly that.

What @dvmnpigeon and I created together finally stepped out into the world, and you all showed up for it. We sold out of clothes, but what I’ll remember most has nothing to do with numbers. It was watching people eat together. Dancing between conversations. Friends bringing friends. Strangers leaving a little less strange.

And then #RyanCoogler and @proximitymedia surprised the community by covering tattoos from @tattoopopups all night.

Thank you to @iamcheftashia for feeding the room, @drinkgemblends for keeping the non-alcoholic drinks flowing, @djohla + @djbellafoxx for giving the day its soundtrack, and @queerauntiesla for continuing to build with us in community.

LA AUNTIES, WE’RE BACK OUTSIDE ☀️

We got ONE more family function to officially close out the summer. Pull up on us as we celebrate @lenawaithe + @dvmnpigeon and the launch of their new fashion line, PROXIMITY @premium_proximity.
Lena + Knoxx will be in the building, along with a few other VIP cousins 👀
