Israeli mothers are some of the strongest women in the world.

The families that we volunteered with for a few days last month have been displaced since October 7th. These are families with 4-6 kids, traumatized from terrorists trying to break into their homes on 10/7, the fathers and all 18+ years old kids in the family are at war, and the rest of the family cannot go home until there is peace.

This leads to tens of thousands of women taking care of 4+ children, living out of hotel rooms with no routine or normalcy, and dealing with daily trauma of knowing their husbands may not return from combat.

I had zero way to relate to them, so we could only try and lift their spirits through painting pottery & throwing a carnival for their kids, who are often too young to even comprehend what is happening.

The most shocking thing was, despite being displaced, despite worrying about their husbands, these women are more worried about what is happening in America & Europe.

They have all seen the same videos videos & read the same stories we do: the antisemitism, desecrated synagogues, violent demonstrations against Israel, and Jews across the world being afraid to go outside and look visibly Jewish in public.

The speeches calling for Intifada (killing of Jews), the “from the river to the sea” chants (eliminating Israel), the calling for violent uprising “by any means necessary,” etc.

Despite all of what they are going through, Israelis are worried about us as much if not more than we worry about them. I repeated that I remain optimistic, but some days I am not so sure.

This war will not end until these women & families can go home and put their children to bed at night without the fear of rocket fire or terrorists going door to door to burn Israelis alive. These women are united and it was so inspirational to be a part of it for a few evenings.
