Four nights. Four different rooms. One week in Dubai.

This week I’m moving through some of Dubai’s nightlife spaces with a different energy each night — from midweek party mode to Friday Afrobeats, Saturday open-format energy and Sunday Lagos-to-Jozi sounds.

WED 30 SEP — DRIP WEDNESDAYS @ OCCO, DUBAI
Midweek pressure. Fashion, music, energy and a room built for people who don’t wait for the weekend.

FRI 02 OCT — SHAYO FRIDAYS @ ENISH, DUBAI
Afrobeats, Amapiano, African club anthems and the kind of Friday night that starts with dinner and somehow turns into a full session.

SAT 03 OCT — FR3QNCY SATURDAYS @ ROMEO LANE, DUBAI
Open-format nightlife in Dubai. Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, amapiano, house and whatever the room needs next.

SUN 04 OCT — LAGOS TO JOZI SUNDAYS @ ENISH, DUBAI
From Lagos to Johannesburg. Afrobeats into Amapiano, 3 Step, Afro House and South African sounds to close the weekend properly.

Different venue. Different crowd. Different musical conversation every night.

That’s the part of DJing I love most — reading the room, switching direction when needed, and making every set feel like it belongs exactly where it’s being played.

Been enjoying this one a lot lately.

KOMSA has that smooth Kompa feel that works perfectly for the kind of sets I want to play more of in Dubai. Not every Dubai nightlife set needs to be all big drops and nonstop peak-time energy. Sometimes the best moment is when the room settles into a groove and people actually start moving with the music.

I’ve been digging deeper into Kompa, Afro Kompa and Zouk because I can see how well those sounds can work in a Dubai club, lounge, rooftop, brunch or late-night open-format set. Dubai crowds are so mixed that the music has to travel. One minute you can be in Afrobeats, then Amapiano, then R&B, Dancehall, Zouk or Kompa and somehow it still makes sense if the transitions are right.

That’s what I’m enjoying most about being a DJ in Dubai right now. There’s room to bring different sounds together instead of staying in one lane all night.

KOMSA feels like one of those records I’d keep ready for a smooth section of a Dubai DJ set, especially later in the night when the crowd is already comfortable and you can start taking them somewhere different.

I’m trying to build my sound around that idea more — global music, open-format DJing and records that can connect different people on a Dubai dancefloor.

Still learning, still digging, still finding songs that make me stop and think, yeah, this one needs to go in the crate.

KOMSA is definitely staying.

You’ve heard this beat before… but probably not like this. 👀🔥

Going from Blu Cantrell ft. Sean Paul – “Breathe” into Dr. Dre – “What’s the Difference” isn’t just a random DJ transition.

There’s actually a musical connection between these records.

“Breathe” uses a slightly altered version of the instrumental from Dr. Dre’s “What’s the Difference,” featuring Eminem and Xzibit.

And it gets even deeper.

Dre’s “What’s the Difference” uses material from Charles Aznavour’s 1966 French song “Parce Que Tu Crois.”

So you get:

Charles Aznavour → Dr. Dre → Blu Cantrell

Three different eras connected through the same musical DNA.

That’s why I wanted to make this transition.

Instead of treating Breathe and What’s the Difference as unrelated songs, I wanted to expose the connection that was already there and turn it into a DJ moment.

Breathe → What’s the Difference.

This is what I love about DJing.

The best transitions aren’t always about BPM. Sometimes they come from recognizing relationships between records:

A sample.
A melody.
A drum pattern.
A vocal.
An instrumental.

Finding the right phrase, timing, EQ and energy is what turns two records into one moment.

That’s the difference between simply playing songs and actually DJing.
