//////////

Bushwick was a major neighborhood for the underground house and electronic music scene in the 90s and early 00s 🔈

Although house music originated in Chicago and took root in Manhattan’s clubs in the 1980s and 1990s, Bushwick became the underground’s refuge.

As rents was rising in Manhattan and then in Williamsburg, musicians and DJs moved to Bushwick’s industrial warehouses, where industrial spaces were more accessible and better suited to the growing dance culture.

Today, the neighborhood’s streets and nightlife are home to some of the most influential clubs in the current electronic and house scene, including House of Yes, Elsewhere, Nowadays, and Paragon 💥

🇺🇸🇬🇧👇
1 IT DOESN’T START IN THE CABIN

Start with a question that hurts:
What if this is not a hobby... but the only way my life makes sense?
Your real day is every night that you change someone’s mood.

2 CHOOSING IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE

It’s not logical. It hurts because loving something doesn’t mean the world is ready to pay you for it.
Music chooses you before you choose it.

3 IT’S LISTENING AGAINST THE CURRENT

Years of searching, studying, obsessed with sounds while outside they repeat:

“It’s a hobby”
“Don’t pay the bills”
“That’s not a future”

4 TO HONOR HER IS TO BANK THE INVISIBLE

Hours looking for tracks.
Sets that no one listens to.
Events that do not pay.
Finished songs.
Trust your taste when no one else understands it.

5 YOUR IMPACT IS HUGE

The difficult thing is not loving music.
The difficult thing is to dare to choose it.
A song changes a night.
One night changes a life.
And you decide what happens next.
