I donned my dayglow track suit & DJed an “‘80s Arcade” themed gala at @rogersparkmontessorischool the other night. While preparing, I uncovered a tubular trove of #80s Video-Game-sounding tunes; some are remixes of #SuperMarioBros and #PacMan, others are covers of popular songs done in #8bit #chiptune style, and a few of the original game tunes are totally rad on their own! If some throwback whimsy won’t gag you with a spoon, check out my Spotify playlist (link in bio). Shout out to @heikebryantceramics in photo 4! taken in Rogers Park Montessori School by @jtrus

Thanks to those who came out to help kick off Gracey’s at @GuildRow last week. What a blast!

For those who missed it or could use another dose of DJ C, I’ve got another gig this Friday at Epiphany Center for the Arts (@epiphanyarts201). It’s early: 5 to 8 pm, and you can get dinner there.

This is another stellar venue, housed in a reimagined 19th-century stone church built for gathering and rebuilt for celebrating. It’s a sprawling campus of event spaces, art galleries, lounges, and courtyards, with state-of-the-art event production amenities.

DETAILS

DJ C
Golden Hour
Epiphany Center for the Arts
201 S. Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607
Friday, March 6th, 5 to 8 pm
Food and drink specials until 7 PM

This event is FREE. Please RSVP at the link in bio.

EPIPHANY’S DESCRIPTION

“For his Golden Hour debut, DJ C will channel his eclectic experience to weave a sonic tapestry inspired by the warm, shifting glow of the evening.”

I’d love to see you there,

I’ve got a fun DJ gig Saturday. Join me for the kickoff of Gracey’s at Guild Row. I’ll be spinning an eclectic mix of tunes, drinks will flow, and details about future Gracey’s events will be shared. Dancing will be optional but encouraged.

If you’ve been to Guild Row, you’ve experienced this special place. If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat! Jim Lasko (formerly of Redmoon Theater) and Elyse Agnello have transformed this old factory building into a beautifully functional space for community, co-working, events, food, and drink. This event will kick off a new era for Guild Row and Chicago nightlife you’ll want to be part of, so don’t miss it!

It’s invite-only, but free. RSVP at the link in bio. by @jtrus

Full Flex: An all-vinyl party celebrating Jungle, its origins, & derivatives.

Saturday February 25. 10p-3a. @TheCharleston.

A "Full Flex" is when a DJ seamlessly traverses rhythms, styles, and tempos while underscoring the shared sonic and cultural ancestry of the music they select. Full Flex DJs will explore Jungle, its roots in dancehall, dub, hardcore breakbeat, hip-hop, and more, as well as its influence on garage, dubstep, global bass etc.

Special Guest:
DJ C rocks house parties in Chicago, club residencies in Boston, warehouses in Prague, underground raves in London, and mountaintop festivals in Japan. His discography as a recording artist includes more than 50 releases on various labels including his own Mashit, which has produced more than 20 records by various artists. www.DJC.rocks

Resident:
@ryan_searchl1te ditches the brainless foursquare beats that serve as cha-cha diagrams for the honkiest segment of the club population. His mixes and productions embody the Full Flex ethos, tracing common threads between movements, sounds, cultures, and time. ryansearchl1te.com
