As the @LATimes suggests, you should probably come out to @LaCitaBar in downtown LA tonight and support @ContraICE as we celebrate the release of “Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE OUT.” We’ll be selling limited edition double vinyl with posters by @LaloAlcaraz1 signed by most of the artists on the album. @HopesAndDrums’ unreleased tunes will be presented in collab with @UliBella, @JimColemanNyc & @djc.rocks, along with so many other amazing musicians and comedians. 🤘🔥🧊🔥🤘 by @jtrus

“Cosplay Cowboys” by @RevivalSeason—the second single from the upcoming @ContraICE Vol. 1: #ICEOUT compilation album—dropped today.

A heavy call-out of pseudo-tough guys, the tune contrasts those who wear armor for style or clout against real-world resistance, and the high-stakes pressure faced by marginalized communities just trying to survive. “When ICE run up on your town / Better hold it down” raps BEZ (@bezpronouncedbeeasy).

When vulnerable groups are targeted, real resistance isn’t about looking away because it doesn’t affect you personally. Holding it down implies a communal shield. True allies are the ones who don’t scatter when the sirens start and things get tough; they stand shoulder to shoulder with those under threat. True resistance is heavy, while fake rebellion is performative. The track honors the legacy of those who fight for liberation, rather than those who run when high noon arrives.

In addition to the brilliant Revival Season original (also featured on their stellar new album “This Machine”) the single features remixes by @HopesAndDrums and filer coleman (@jimcolemannyc, ex Cop Shoot Cop).

Big congrats to @MashitRecords artist HopesAndDrums! This bombastic remix marks their first official music release anywhere.

H&D is an interdisciplinary project combining music, writing, visual art, and other media. Their visual art and writing have been exhibited around the US and featured in several European print magazines, but their music had been elusive until now.

filer coleman’s driving sonic collage of a remix rounds out the single, shining another light on the depth of “Cosplay Cowboys.” His work as a sound designer will be heard throughout the Contra-ICE compilation upon its arrival on October 2 (double vinyl, double CD, streaming everywhere), @SoundsGood_presents, @RedEyeWorldwide by @jtrus

Monday 9/14 - join us from 2-4 PM eastern for a special 2 hours with Contra-ICE!

We will be speaking with Contra-ICE Founder and Creative Director Dali Colorado, Creative Visionary (and Ozomatli member) Uli Bella, and Creative Director & Music Producer Jake Trussell.

What is Contra-ICE? How did it start? What music speaks to these visionaries? When's the damn record coming out? And how do find hope in these times?

All these questions and more will be answered! by @jtrus
