Techne is my latest full project. It's a 7-track album covering a lot of my interests from downtempo ambient to techno with a lot of dub influences and elements.

I really tried to keep it as minimal as possible. As a very melodic minded person, it's so hard to stop yourself from adding more melodic elements or more sounds. But I tried to focus on the main ideas so the listener can also focus on it in this project.

Thanks @crossfadesounds for giving me the opportunity and giving the album a chance. More to come!

It's available on all streaming platforms and you can purchase it on @crossfadesounds Bandcamp for more support.

The project is meant to be a small DJ mix on its own and I will upload the mix it the way I had in mind sometime in the future.

There are 118 elements on the Periodic Table of Elements. I know some people noticed my track naming convention. Last week I finished number 118!

I didn't count but I think I have about 30-40 released tracks. That means some of these tracks will be released perhaps in ~2 years time....

When I started to produce, I only had one goal: produce as many as possible, one after another with whatever idea I have. No loops, no unfinished business. I truly believe in repetition and hard work. It's always rewarding. Every single one is better than the previous one whether people can hear it or not. I know it is.

Looking forward to the next 118!

One of my favorite plucky sounds. I was working on a melody (which I may use in something I am working on). Then I decided to change the tempo and vibe to do something relaxing tonigh. I overdid the reverb too because I felt like it!

SE-02 has a very sensitive filter and that's why I am tweaking it just so carefully...

Pure Roland SE-02. No effects other than its own delay. No processing. Recorded as it is.

I am testing an unofficial SE-02 editor and wanted to see if it responds parameter changes in real time.

Video is just a loop. Audio is real time.

After i come up with an idea or loop (most of the time), i quickly arrange it. Then start adding the layers. I typically record everything as audio if I use a synthesizer i own or bounce everything to audio from midi. I like seeing the audio tracks for automation. Here is a very quick overview without showing the automation.

I don't typically do or like "behind the scenes" type of videos. But here's something about Magna. Because it has one of my favorite basslines and sounds. The 7-track album Techne is out and available on all streaming platforms including Bandcamp.

The latest release on Madloch's Crossfade Sounds introduces Houston-based DJCHEMIE to the label with Techne, a seven-track debut shaped by his broad production interests across ambient, downtempo, techno and dub techno. A prolific independent producer with an extensive self-released Bandcamp catalogue, DJCHEMIE has also appeared on labels including dublucid, Flowing Movement Music, Slope Point and Superordinate Dub Waves. Techne brings together "Techne," "Salt," "Erbium," "Seaborg," "Tma," "Magna" and "Chlorine" in a compact album statement. The release extends a steadily developing dub-focused thread in his catalogue and makes Crossfade Sounds a natural setting for the next stage of his work. by @djchemie

Late Friday night jam.

Full 4 minute version is on YouTube.

I used one sample (the female vocal/chant) and noise as sample. And I used 6 synth tracks and two drum tracks.

As you can tell, I have been getting better with knob/button combinations, and I don't think I used the SEQTRAK app in this jam. I am changing scenes/patterns along with mute/unmute to have some variations. Will get better for sure!

It was recorded directly to Audacity using audio via USB. I then only put a compressor and a limiter on it in MPC Beats so it's louder. Nothing else.

Sunday hobby time. I have been enjoying the SEQTRAK. I never sampled anything and typically I don't use any audio that I am not supposed to.

For my Sunday jams/hobby, I wanted to see if I can enjoy working with samples. I bought a cheap record player and a bunch of old records of all kinds of genres. Sampling vinyl is very easy with SEQTRAK. And you can quickly work on it with all the drum and synth tracks in SEQTRAK. The app is am using in the video is the official SEQTRAK app.
