What I wish everyone knew from the outside looking in…. Is that behind every championship medal, banner or ring, are these coaches who love their athletes with every fiber of their soul. Behind the wins are the days that start early and end late, all consumed by, did I do enough? Are they ready? Could we squeeze in just one more practice? Should I change their costume so their arms look cleaner? Does the red stand out enough? Should the hair be higher? How do we fix that hole and can she tumble twice & land that pass? How can I get her to believe in herself like I believe in her? Will parents be mad if I schedule practice that early in the morning? How do I get practice in and still get them out in time for prom? Is that uni too expensive? The self questioning is relentless and not for the weak. The hardest of moments are watching the tears of disappointment when they have fallen just short of their goals, and the goodbyes to those who know they took the mat for the very last time. What I wish they knew (coaches) is that you in fact did enough. You practiced, prepared, studied, and loved them enough!! They are better athletes, and more importantly better humans, for all you have, and continue, to pour into them!! Thank you for the season 28 journey Melinda McNatt, Kaston Giovanni Kincade, Lani McNatt, Madi Hanks, Maddie Minser and Michael McNatt. We are all better for all you do.
