Cumbia ➡️ Quebradita, the smooth way

The jump between these two can feel rough: different tempo, different energy, different steps. So I use a transition track as a bridge. It brings the crowd up gradually, so when the quebradita drops, they’re already moving.

Reading the floor > just playing songs.

When your guests are part of the night instead of just watching it, you get more energy back from them. And that energy from your close friends and family is what makes a wedding feel like yours.

Here’s a simple way to do it: “Guess the Newlyweds’ First Dance Song.”

How it works:
1. Put a board of songs out for your guests (this one had 49)
2. Each guest signs their name under their guess

By the time the first dance is announced, the whole room is locked in. People who just met are already laughing and comparing guesses, and everyone has a reason to pay attention to the moment that matters most.

It doesn’t take much. Give the people you love a way to be involved, and they’ll give that energy right back to you all night.

Your first dance doesn’t have to end with polite applause and an empty dance floor.

The trend I’m loving right now: start with your slow song, then mid-dance we flip into something fun. But here’s the part that makes it work. Before the wedding, the couple picks a table captain at every table. When the song switches, I get on the mic and call the captains out, and each one brings their whole table to the floor.

Nobody’s waiting to see who goes first. The whole room moves at once.

There’s something special about watching a wedding go from conversations, ideas, and little details to suddenly standing there and seeing it all come to life. And with Stephanie & James, yeah they killed it!

From working together to find the perfect song for her entrance, to curating the music and energy throughout the entire night, it was incredible watching THEIR DREAM become a real moment they were finally getting to live.

And the details… they thought of everything.

From the custom welcome signage and monograms to the personalized cake placards, every detail felt intentional and personal. It was an intimate wedding, but the love, energy, and celebration filled the entire room.
