There’s just something about coming, HOME ON THAT LOFTY HILL 🧡💙

VSU Homecoming 2026 is officially in the books, and once again, it didn’t disappoint! It was great seeing so many friends—and some folks who stopped being “friends” a long time ago and became family.

As usual, I did have to mix a little work in with the fun this year. There were plenty of behind-the-scenes moves, events, and things that had to get done, so I didn’t get to spend as much time with everybody as I would’ve liked. But every hug, handshake, laugh, and quick conversation made the weekend worth it.

One thing about Homecoming—it reminds you that no matter how much time passes, some connections pick right back up like you never missed a beat.

To everybody I got a chance to see, it was GREAT seeing you. And to those I missed, we’ll catch up next time.

Until the next one… Big State! Not the little one! Respectfully! 🧡💙

I would have never believed that 7 days before my 50th birthday I would be saying “see you later” today to you Omar …. It’s still hard to process that you are no longer with us, but I have to trust God through it all… From your family becoming one of the founding members of our church and growing up with you under my wing at times, to finding out later in life we are actually related in some way, the memories are just countless. You were a light and you’ve always supported me in everything I’ve done. Each time we talked, you always had great words of encouragement, as if you were the elder, and I will truly miss that. It’s going to be difficult to move forward without you, by my heart finds joy in knowing that you ARE in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Until we meet again my lil brother, “Cuz”, “Zelly”, “O.Z.” Amen…. @konscience2 taken in The Mount at Chesapeake by @djfonz
