@djhydroe — my next guest on #betweencuts! 🎙️

I met Hydroe at the 2025 NAMM Show, thanks to our dear friend DJ Robert Smith. What I didn’t know back then was that I was meeting someone who would become a good friend. ❤️

Hydroe hosted me at his beautiful home, introduced me to his family, invited me into his studio and shared some of his knowledge and perspective on the culture. And honestly… Hydroe = hip-hop. 🫡

Born and raised in Los Angeles, DJ Hydroe has been rocking turntables for over 25 years. From performing with artists like Murs and Pigeon John to sharing stages with legends such as Shortkut, DJ Koco, DJ-Qbert and many more, he has built his own unique voice behind the decks.

Inspired by pioneers like Beastie Boys and N.W.A., Hydroe embraced every element of the culture — graffiti, emceeing, b-boying — but it was behind the turntables where he truly found his place. A dedicated vinyl collector and 45 enthusiast and proud member of @dustydonuts45s. He combines technical precision with a deep love for classic hip-hop, funk and soul.

But this episode is also about something I’ve come to value more and more.

Meeting artists through their music is incredible. But being able to sit down, break bread, talk, drive around the city and simply spend time together outside of music… that’s something special.

“Breaking bread” — that’s culture too. ❤️

Big love to Hydroe and his family for the hospitality, the knowledge and the good times.

Next interview coming soon. 🫡🎙️
