#throwback to SW4 August 2019.

Pre-pandemic, this tune was the go-to for DJs at kickout time. But it’s extra special when you see the DJ that actually made it @tchami.

Another interruption to the flow of the evening, but the prize was worth it. After all, you'd be a fool to miss out on a free round of drinks...

Congratulations to the winner.

Shout out to @oneovertheait

R&B ON RECORD 016

T-Pain - Rappa Ternt Sanga

@tpain

2005

@djjonnybizzle

📍London, UK

Why is this your favourite?

So I chose this album as my favourite because at the time of its release there was nothing else like it and it was subject to a lot of critique and scrutiny due to the heavy use of auto tune. People don’t realise you have to actually be a good singer for autotune to work properly which everybody soon found out when he released his second album Epiphany. I also have a vetted interest in voice ordering instruments such as talk boxes and vocoders so it was a complete culture shock to hear a whole album like this even though 702 and Cher used autotune years before this release

Favourite song from the album:

Favourite song on the album is ‘Como Estás’. The two singles that got released ‘I’m in luv (wit a stripper)’ & ‘I’m Sprung’ got rinsed but this one is more upbeat and deserved a single release.

A record you don’t currently own, but want to:

There are many records I wish I owned but keeping with the R&B theme I would go for Sade ‘Love Deluxe’. I was 4 years old when I heard ‘no ordinary love’ for the first time. Although her first album has some timeless classics, there’s a reason why entertainment weekly brands her as the “high priestess of understated cool” with this one.

Vinyl is an acquired taste. It requires strength and patience. But, if you love music like I do then that won't matter to you.

I must say though, this one did cost me a pretty penny! Lol
